the only bad thing was that all the people who came down to NC for my reading had to leave early on saturday night so they could try to escape the horrible snowstorm on its way through VA. my parents, kari & josh, and my girlfriends from high school all left at 6pm, when the original plan had been for them to stay till sunday morning. the storm was supposed to dump 1-2 feet of snow on DC by monday, and they were really worried. i wanted them to get home safe, of course, but i was still kind of sad that they had to go so soon. there was this big flurry of activity when they decided they needed to leave, and then they left, and then it was all quiet. i miss them. but friday was great, and we had a good time on saturday--laying around, going to subway for lunch, and then doing some shopping on tate street. and it was the first time the girls (lauren, colleen, missi, and kari) had been down to see me here, and it really meant a lot that they came for the reading and saw my apartment and visited here. so i didn't really mind that they had to leave early, because they made it in the first place, if that makes sense.
jorn just beat the boss of level 5 in zelda: oracle of ages. i beat level 3 of oracle of seasons last night, and i'm hoping now he'll read the paper or want to check his email so i can play for a little while. zelda is great, especially on weekends when i'm not obligated to do anything since i just had my thesis reading. yay for pajamas.
