oh, and like two other things
update on the poems i sent out to journals: heard back from the White Pelican Review already. rejection, of course. good turnaround time, though, i may send to them again just for that.
also, i wrote out the holiday cards yesterday and got most of them in the mail today.
also, today between interviews i took a walk around downtown, which i'd been meaning to do for a while. it was good first of all to walk off my upsetness, and good also to explore. i now know how to get to Gov't Ctr, Park St, Downtown Xing, State, and Chinatown above ground. if i really really wanted to, i could walk from Charles/MGH to Chinatown, that's how much i know now. like i'd ever want to, but it's good to know. and one of the things that's been annoying me about the T is having to switch trains for just one stop; it's not like it's a big production or anything, it just gets on my nerves. but now, i know exactly how to get from Downtown Xing to State above ground so i won't have to switch to the orange line for one stop, and i know how to get from Park St to Gov't Ctr so i won't have to do the green line switch. and oh man, Gov't Ctr to State is super easy too. if the weather was bad of course i'd just switch trains, but for a nice day it's an easy walk. so that was one really good thing about today.
and not only have i bought my girlfriends' secret santa present already, i also have bought birthday gifts for missi *and* colleen. and coll's birthday isn't till january 7. and as soon as my cds arrive from various ebay vendors, i'll have my christmas shopping done for my dad (i'm getting him replacements of all the cds i've "borrowed" from him over the years). and my mom shopping has been done for ages, and so has my jorn shopping, now that the last package has arrived in the mail. i just need to get wrapping.
if i get a decent job, i really want to go to AWP in chicago in march. i need to start thinking about writing again, and that might be a good kickstart. plus i miss stina and adam, and they'll probably be there, and plus i could see sandra read. we'll have to see about the job thing, though. i have some serious traveling to do this spring: missi's mom is getting married on valentine's day so i want to go down to PA for that, then AWP in chicago in march, then mel & jamie's wedding in baltimore at the end of april. plus mom's still thinking about england for this summer's vacation (my parents were planning on going to england for a trip last summer for their 25th anniversary, but with their health problems it ended up not working out. now i think the aforementioned health problems made them realize that yeah, now is the time to go if you're going. and they say they'll take me too. nice parents). and i'm still considering going to SUUSI in july, and i still want to go to greensboro for jay's thesis reading (which i'll be able to consider better when i know when it *is*, jay.) so. travel. christmas. weddings. lots to look forward to. and hey, what do ya know, it's bedtime.
