On November 15 (yes, I know), I went to the Barnes Museum with friends! And without my child! Mike and Sarah left their daughter with Sarah's dad for the day, and my mom came over to watch f so that the four of us could go out. I'd never done the Barnes before and it was really cool, and really exciting to be out somewhere definitively grown-up.
I took some notes on my phone that day, but now it's been a little too long for me to accurately decipher exactly what I was so excited about. I'll give it a go, though:
- Pascin, Corot, Modigliani (painters I'd never heard of before but liked, and kept finding myself liking as I went through the galleries)
- Renoir: The Apple Vendor (painting that I stopped dead and stared at and almost cried because it was so beautiful and so perfect)
- Soutine: disturbing and compelling (I bet I could figure this out with a quick Google search but I kind of like it better as-is)
- Glackins: Woman in Red Blouse with Tulips (just really liked this painting, so colorful)
After visiting the Barnes, we went to Vetri nearby for pizza. It was decadent and amazing. We got four pizzas to split among the four of us, plus several desserts, until we were all stuffed and had delicious leftovers to take home. A really nice day.
