books 2010: The Guinea Pig Diaries: My Life as an Experiment, by A.J. Jacobs

I was looking at my LJ, thinking that I'd missed a book post somewhere but not able to figure out what it was. But lo, I totally did miss one. I read this book on the plane to and from Louisville last weekend. My work buddy K lent it to me. As a collection, it's a bit uneven: some essays are laugh-out-loud hilarious (in particular, the outsourcing piece and the wife-in-charge piece), and some are kind of forgettable (for me, the rationality essay--by Monday I'd forgotten I'd read it on Saturday and kept waiting for Jacobs to get to that one). Overall, though, Jacobs is still hilarious and fun, and there's some good stuff in here. Perfect airplane read.
