We were invited over to help clear some vegetation the day after christmas, little did i realize it was going to be an epic evening of indulgence. I upon hearing of such event that evening i took to presharpening my machetes, fixing the edges of some of my faves that had gotten dinged by some rock or other throughout my year. I also finally had my way with la fea which is the newest machete from Ecuador that i spotted in that muddy town of Coca, (I got the last one, my previous tour i waited too long until it was too late to find one). Admitedly its too much machete by my standards but you always need a big whopper in your collection. So we got there and it was on people with chainsaws, loppers going at it, not wasting any time Kaqimax and I went at it, she took the consentida, and went to it, i went with la fea, we started on the ligustrum and it was beautiful watching the blades dig into the wood like it was balsa. Much to my surprise a bonfire was lit on the fallen ligustrum, and it greedily just snapped crackled and popped through the vegetation like it was white gas. Little by little the machete high spiraled out from my blade and we merged the two into one entity just whacking away into sweet oblivion. As the evening progressed, smilax and I eventually crossed paths and it was on, i took out a good chunk of it but there was much collateral damage on my part as its thorns left me bloody whenever we brushed by each other. The fire grew and grew and we kept feeding it, pretty soon just working by the light of the fire. There was a point where it was just me out there, whacking away, falling my foes and feeding them to the fire. I eventually switched blades (needed to resharpen but with these many blades why bother) and tried out the Gator machete that Monclova gave me and kept going until my hands were just claws and i couldn't bend my fingers anymore (from all of the shocks). After feeling the gator machete out i took out some cedar and could see just what gerber had in mind when they made this machete. I must admit i didn't like the original edge but the one i put on it was more my style. Eventually i made a close shave with it barely missing my leg and realized it was time to call it quits, as it was obvious i was getting tired, by then everyone had turned in and were hanging out sharing some food, i cooled off and eventually made my way to join the melee......... It was by far the best evening this month...........
