Used (shiny) Solar car shade (the ones that fold out accordion style onto the dashes of your cars) I am thinking of sewing a bunch together and make a solar shield for my camping tent in the hopes of getting some additional morning sleep out in the playa. I rather reuse unused ones as they will no longer be too functional after the playa. I will be hand stitching them with some heavy sewing thread, and sewing some grommeted loops so that they fit over the rainfly. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. One thing to note having a burn event out in the playa does no make for sustainable camping as you pretty much thrash all your camping gear when you are out there and you will need to keep purchasing new things every year to replace things that didn't make it back.
