two things

1. In Helsinki, as we waited at the boat terminal to go to Estonia, a guy sat alone at a round table, pounding on it to the music in his headphones. Sometimes he would lift his hands up victoriously and go "Ooooooooh." Later, he disappeared into the bathroom, using his rolling suitcase as a support all the way there. The next time I noticed him, he had changed into a captain's uniform (stripy shirt, hat), he stood up, saluted the table, and rolled off somewhere. Next thing I know, they are calling us to board our boat, which by the way was named Superstar.

2. On Saturday I went to da club with two friends. We ended up going to Kafe Na Lestnitse, which we expected not to get into, but it was lame, so we did. As we stood by the bar, shot-gunning our beers so we could leave ASAP and watching this very up-and-down guy in a tie be crawled over by a girl he had managed to pick up, we noticed that the bartender had started juggling flaming Smirnoff bottles. We giggled and were discussing how dangerous that seemed (are they filled with alcohol when they do that? They can't possibly be, right?), when we noticed a wall of heat and a fireball explode onto the ceiling. Then I saw that the bartender had lit his face on fire, and was clawing at himself to try to put it out. There was a pause and then finally his coworker splashed water on him. Later when my friend Catherine asked another bartender if the guy was okay, he said, "Yeah, he's fine. Wait... are you a doctor?"
