I don't know why I am always leery of going political here. I was before, too. I suppose I just don't want to piss anyone off. But then again, it seems like I don't have the strength of my convictions if I won't even state them here. I don't know. Maybe I will make a Citizen Kane-like statement of principles. Maybe.
In the meantime, I'd like to analyze a phrase I hear all the time that I find to be disingenuous at best and incredibly stupid at worst:
You can't make peace with people who want to kill you.
It sounds like it makes sense, doesn't it? Unless you spend even half a second thinking about it. Oh, I'm no expert with statistics, and I enjoy history but would be the first to admit I don't know it all. But I feel fairly confident in believing that, in the history of mankind, most wars end when the TWO SIDES WHO ARE TRYING TO KILL EACH OTHER MAKE PEACE.
I'm just saying. Sure, many times those terms are very unfavorable to one side or the other. Sometimes not. Blah blah blah. If you're going to spout simplistic asinine statements then I will combat you with simplistic but generally CORRECT ones. Jesus Christ, people, if you couldn't make peace with people who want to kill you we'd still be fighting the fucking Sumerians in Mesopotamia.
