End of the Year Fanworks Meme: 2018
Stats: Podfic (59 stories, slightly less than 20 hours worth of footage recorded overall), 0 fics :(
I recorded slightly more in quantity and slightly less in length for podfic this year. It's still nowhere approaching my height in podfic production, but were it not for the last minute push to get bingo for podfic_bingo and complete some belated #ITPE treats, my stats would have been very sad.
My writing stats do not bear mentioning. sob.
Most popular?
By hits and kudos, my most popular works still tend to be multivoice podfic projects that other people organized or pod-together projects. In terms of stuff I recorded outside of collaborations, catch me, I'm falling (for you) was my most popular by hits overall, even above my multivoice and pod-togethers. The Darcy Lewis fandom pulling through for me as always. It was also my most popular podfic by kudos, but the multivoice pods and pod-togethers got more.
Most underappreciated?
It's a small fandom and the podfic is locked, so I suppose the stats on Two Households, Both Alike in Dignity aren't a surprise. Also there were some sound issues bc Shmaylor's mic didn't want to play nice with my computer. But it's HILARIOUS and I love everyone's performances in it, and I wish more people could listen to and appreciate it.
I'm also a little sad by the stats on The Heroes' Gambit, because I really thought it was one of the better CR podfics I made. IT'S HEIST FIC. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE.
Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
The live performance of You Can Hear It In the Silence. I'm super proud of the performance and the energy and the laughter from the audience really adds to it.
Most difficult to make?
Probably Twisted Tales because there were SO. MANY. TRACKS. It was a challenge trying to figure out how to translate the visual components of tigriswolf's poetry into audio form, and also a challenge to keep track of all the tracks, the different levels of Left to Right panning, and the timings.
Most "ah ha ha I can't believe I'm doing this"?
....I don't know? I guess the closest would be the TERRIBLE French accent I needed to use for in paris or in lansing which was SUPPOSED to be bad, but OH MAN WAS IT BAD. Please don't judge me for it.
Most fun to make?
The live performances and definitely a few of the multipods. The Greatest Hits of Colonel Sportacus Champitor Crimson the Second was a crowd-pleaser and it's always fun to channel the Blood Gulch Crew. Two Households was also fun for the same reasons, because everyone did SO GREAT with their characters and we laughed so much. And of course, making The Chilliad with everyone at Podfic Summer Sizzle was a blast.
Was there one that didn't turn out the way you wanted?
Probably Two Households and parts of in lansing or in paris, because of technical sound issues, so it doesn't sound AS GOOD as I wanted it to.
Biggest learning experience?
Probably Twisted Tales? But I generally played it pretty safe this year.
What's next?
FINISH MY WIPS. SPECIFICALLY MY WRITING ONES.
But I also want to record a pretty long Mass Effect podfic that is going to be A BEAST in terms of effects.
