Don't come to Minnesota, we're closed...
In Minnesota, the legislature and the governor have failed to balance the state budget by the end of the fiscal year (June 30). So the state government has CLOSED. I am out of work, using up my meager vacation time, until they get their politcal heads out of their asses. And I just learned that:
THEY ALL WENT HOME!!!!! The house and senate have ajourned until Tuesday. I'm out of fucking work and they're taking a fucking VACATION!! So here's the letter I just sent to my senator, representative, governor and the house and senate leaders:
How dare any of you adjourn and take a vacation when our state is in this situation??
I am a state worker of only one year. I have very little vacation time to use up as income.
Will you help me pay my rent for August? Or pay my bills? Will you buy me food at the end of the month? Cover my medical bills? How long will this go on?
As I said, I have only a few days of vacation time. If this drags on and uses it all up, I would like any or all of you to make a phone call for me. I would like you to call my nephew out in New York state and explain why his favorite uncle cannot be at his 8th birthday party in August. Better for you to hear the disappointment in his voice than me.
I am inspired to join the growing number of people in Minnesota who are saying they will not vote for a single incumbent of ANY party next November. You are playing with people's income and lives! GET BACK TO WORK!!!!
I should have added: Now don't make me email you again. I'm going to get my belt....
P.S. I've already made my cardboard sign: "Will prevent sexually transmitted diseases for food"
