((OOC: WARNING! There is attempted suicide in this. If that will upset you, please don't read! I have put it behind an LJ-cut just in case!))
(Alan looks up at the camera, very little light in his room. He looks entirely drained, as if he hasn't slept or eaten for days. Of course, this is true. Even after the Darkness left him, he hasn't been able to sleep any more than a few minutes at a time...and every
time...the same nightmare....again and again....)
.....I'm sorry....to everyone....
(He sighs, running a hand through his hair.) ...I tried to fight it...really...I did...but.....there's only so much I can do...
I....was going to write a letter for this, but....I wasn't sure what would happen. (He chuckles bitterly.) I'm so afraid to write anything anymore. Hell, I'm afraid if I just wrote something like 'Dick and Jane crossed the street' then some random kids I didn't know about named Dick and Jane down on Earth ((Sorry if the world isn't called this! Gah!)) will be crossing a street and suddenly get ran over by a car.....And, hell, their dog, Spot, would likely follow.
...Everyone....even if the light hurts you...all the more reason to stay in it.....I'm a hypocrite...obviously...look at my room. Just....Please...don't let yourself get taken in by it....It's....it's the worst thing to give in to...
...And....if anyone can show this to my wife afterwards....Alice... (He looks straight at the comm, serious as he can be)....I'm so sorry....but I just...I can't do it anymore. I love you....more than anything....But me just existing is putting so many people in danger...including you...
I can't do it anymore.
And...Barry, you're the best friend a guy could have, no matter what Alice says...okay? I hope you'll understand why I have to do this... Hang in there...I know you can.
And...to all of you....So many of you are....you're really nicer than I expected...I enjoyed being here while everything was under control. I don't want anything bad to happen to anymore of you....
Good bye.
(And then he stands, a revolver in hand, before cutting the feed.)
