The weekend was not long enough, but I enjoyed it. Because July 4th was on a weekend this year, we didn't get a day off work for it, so I haven't had a day off since I took the week after Fanime for vacation. It's been a long stretch. Friday night, I bought a new printer/scanner. My scanner was fairly ancient as well. So, now I have an all-in-one machine that takes up less room and is nice and current. It prints really fast compared to my old one. After buying that, I went for some Kogi and shaved ice. I think some ants feasted on me while I was waiting in line. It happened to a lot of people. I love the shaved ice. After getting home, I hooked up the printer and just conked out.
Most of Saturday was spent running errands. I went to the supermarket and took my old computer equipment to be recycled. There were also some supplies I needed get at various places and bills to pay. I had to do some shopping as well. I went to some camera shops and some book stores. There's always something that catches my eye, but I decided against buying anything. There's probably going to be a lot of other expenses this month that I need to take care of. It took longer than expected so I didn't get home until late afternoon and then it was a photo editing marathon. Even though I worked on photos for a few hours, it wasn't enough to finish the Fanime stuff I wanted to put up, but I was close.
Sunday morning, I went to the gym. I won't be able to have a Sunday morning workout for the next few weeks. After coming home and having lunch, I had just enough time to finish my Fanime stuff and get them online before heading out to Little Tokyo for
_shiya_wind 's birthday. It was quite and interesting group we had out there. We started out with dinner at Orochon. I think I'm with
asianschoolboy on this one. I didn't feel too well after eating there. I didn't have anything extremely spicy, but I didn't feel so great afterwards. I don't know if I want to eat here again. Afterwards we went to Yogurtland. You can get free yogurt on your birthday. I did not know that. I'll have to take advantage of that. After that, we went to Japan Arcade. It's been awhile since I've played games in an arcade. When you have a video game console, you kinda don't feel like going to arcades anymore. I tried a few games that I sucked at and died really fast. The shooting game with the motion sensors was fun because you had to physically duck and move to hide behind stuff and avoid getting shot. It was tiring though. After we were done playing games, we started splitting up. In the end it was me,
epiic , and
celes_aurora . We found a map of downtown that said there was an Art Park nearby. None of us thought this park existed to we decided to try and find it before Veronica's father arrived to pick her up. This park was supposed to be somewhere around the MOCA and Federal Building, but of course, we couldn't find anything so I guess the map was wrong. It was a pretty scary area too. I almost tripped over some bum who was sleeping on the ground. From there, Ted went to go catch a bus and so I walked with Veronica back to civilization before leaving for the night.
Today was fairly slow with another morning workout followed by a ton of photo editing once again. This time, it was for Cosplay Underground v. 004. At this point, I'm more than halfway done with it, but it's going to be tough to get it done by this weekend because it looks like I'm going to lose Friday night. Three more nights to finish it doesn't seem possible. On the average, each set is taking about 2 hours and I've got 3 1/2 sets to go. I'm not going to say which sets I have done except that Hetalia has been done forever and everybody knows that anyways.
September Schedule:
9/11: GLAY concert. Originally I didn't plan on going, but I guess I'm going now. I'm going to be on the press list so I get to go for free. I won't be photographing. It's going to be a lot like Kanon Wakashima. I'm basically going to be an observer. Because of the Sunset Strip Music Festival, I don't know how bad it's going to be up in that area, but hopefully traffic won't be too bad and I don't have to park a mile away.
9/12-13:
FPAC. I've been going to this for many years. It's right here in San Pedro, so it's really convenient for me. My FPAC photos are pretty popular. There looks to be a few new acts on the schedule. That's good because most of the stuff is there year after year and I want to see something new.
9/18-20:
Mikomicon. I go for all three days even though the last day is kinda meh.... I'm still hoping that they don't get Eyeshine this year. They've had them every year, but since JY Bosch was a dick last year and didn't bother going to a VA panel, I don't thing they're being asked back. Eyeshine sucks. A few new music acts this year which is good. Kick back con.
9/25:
Film on the Plaza. This time it's Space Battleship Yamato. I love that series. It's so old skool. Last time they had this, they really screwed up Voltron by having that DJ play a bunch of trance music instead of letting us hear the actual dialogue. Hopefully they don't do that this time. I found this event to be quite enjoyable. The atmosphere is really cool.
9/27:
Harvest Moon Festival: This festival is just okay and it 's basically one of those events that's good for my J!-ENT staff blog. You never know who's going to end up performing at this thing. Hip-hop violinist?? OK, I'm curious now.
10/2-4:
Long Beach Comic Con: I figure since I live so close, I might as well check it out for one day maybe on the Saturday. Honky Tonk Man. LOL
This is why I wanted to cut down my photo backlog by the end of the week. I'm going to be dead by the end of all of this. I want to see 9, but I don't know when I'll have time.
