Unique Handmade Multi-Wear Bolero Review!

Sep 30, 2011 18:25

Hello! This is my second time doing a review, so I'm still pretty new at this. Please be patient with me if I make any mistakes!

Today I will be doing a review of a cardigan/bolero from Kiki Kitty, https://www.facebook.com/KinkiKittyDesigns
The name of the line can be described here, to prevent misunderstanding, at Kinki Kitty's website:
http://kinkikitty.com/pages/aboutname.php

Kinki Kitty is owned and operated by the very talented user theosakakoneko here on Livejournal.

This bolero (which is what I shall refer to it as throughout this review, although it transforms significantly), has two parts. One part being the main jacket/bolero piece, and a second part being the lovely ruffle that wraps around the collar and shoulders. These pieces separate from each other to provide a wide array of uses for this garment! Here is the run down:

Normal (normal being the two pieces worn together, at the same time):

Now, I shall show the ruffle piece removed from the bolero. This now has transformed into a more simple, casual look:

(Please note: The jacket is not sewn unevenly, I just placed it askew on the mannequin!)

Shoulder Construction Detail:

The construction of this bolero is amazing. It fits me better than some brand pieces do. The sewing skills of Mrs. Kinki Kitty really show though here. Everything is even and hemmed immaculately, and the garment is lined with the same fabric inside and out.

Sleeve Hem:

The hems are all perfectly even and circular, with now pulls in the fabric.

Next I shall show the ruffle piece by it's lonesome. First, in a normal, wrap-around-the-collar-and-shoulders look:

Here you can see how the ruffle piece is held on by tying it in the back, underneath the arms. It stays on quite well this way!

The other ways to wear the ruffle piece! (Here's the fun part!!):

You can detach the ruffle piece and fashion it into different ways to better match your coordinate. There are ways to move it around for everyone! Here are just a few that I thought of while taking pictures:

The front-tied skirt addition:

Put this over any plain skirt or JSK for a more aristocratic, bustle-back dress feel! ♥

The back-tied skirt addition:

This way reminds me more of a tutu. This may look cute with any simple sweet JSK, or it could work again to create a more aristocratic atmosphere for a coordinate!

Off-the-shoulder:

This one I just made up on the spot haha. I think it would look really cute with a strapless dress! It creates something we don't really get to see in Lolita: and off of the shoulder look! :D

Of course, there are many more ways this piece could work! It is highly functional!

Run down:
Shipping: N/A. I picked this up from theosakakoneko herself at a local art festival, where she had a booth. (We live close haha)
Quality: 5/5. I think this piece is extremely well made and well worth the purchase price. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and have worn this piece 5 times since I purchased it recently. People at school just love it and one of my teachers asked if it was deisgner! xD Haha. That must say something about it, huh?
Communication: 5/5 (in person). I really enjoyed doing a transaction with Kinki Kitty. She was polite, funny, sweet, and easy to do business with. I will be buying from her again because of her pleasant demeanor, even if I am not purchasing her hand-made goods. Her customer service is really amazing!
Overall: 5/5. I couldn't be happier with this garment and all the functions it possess! ♥ I can wear it with almost everything I own, and I hope to get more of them in different colors to better match my other outfits! I love them!

Thank you so much for looking at my review!
