Video Games!

So I beat another video game. This time it was Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on the Gamecube, and partially on my brother's Wii. I was really, really impressed by the whole thing. The storyline was good and still managed to encompass the key plot elements of any RPG (meet people to help you collect the [number] [special object] to prevent [evil power] from taking over the world while enjoying nifty sidequests!). I even got a little goosebumpy at the end, with everyone rallying for me. I think the best part, though, was beating the final boss without losing a single hit point. That's right. I found this move that paralyzed the enemy for a few turns, allowing me to attack and get style points that recharged the meter for the special attack, which I deployed when necessary. It was beautiful. There was also a room full of puzzles, and I figured out most of them myself (though Brett helped on a couple). I love the battle mode and the fact that you actually have to think about what you're doing, and though the end boss strategy was kind of a cop out I was so proud of myself for figuring it out that I didn't mind. Plus I wasted an Ultra Shroom right before a hit point box and save point so I was upset about that. I love playing video games through like this; it gives me a sense of accomplishment and it's really fun to get wrapped up in them.

Unfortunately, this has left me with approximately tomorrow morning to pack, which means a couple of hours. I think, though, that that will be enough, especially granted that it didn't take me any time at all to pack to come here and that I'm only packing for about a week (and I'm even coming back here before it's back to Ann Arbor again). I'm going to sign off, however, and prepare for a great week in the woods.
