Oh, and Jackson actually won the popular vote 3 times...the whole "Corrupt Bargain" deal and such...instead of Adams in the 1824 election. He also won a plurality of the electoral college, but needed a simple majority, which he didn't have. I think there's at least one other dude who did that...whoever ran against Truman or Coolidge or something...they even printed out the newspapers with the other dude declared the winner. I just don't remember who that was.
What was I doing at 3:30 this morning? Dreaming about being Cinderella and running away from the Prince at the altar to spend my life with my female wedding planner, who was waiting for me. That was a strange dream.
dude. james k. polk. do you not know the they might be giants song?
"in 1844, the democrats were split/the three nominees for the presidential candidate/were martin van buren, a former president/and an abolitionist/james buchanan was a moderate/lewis cass, a general and expansionist/from nashville came a dark horse riding up/it was james k. polk, our 11th president"
Yeah, wait a minute. But they all add up to 42...let me do the math again...ah, right. Two Adams and Chester A. Arthur. See, Garfield was assassinated and Arthur took over, so he never won an election.
Animaniacs: "James Garfield someone really hated, 'cuz he was assassinated."
