My hometown is Mokpo, in Jullado city. I speak in standard Korean so much that people I meet today don't realise I'm from Mokpo; but for me, Mokpo dialect is still most comfortable.
So now, will you listen to my story of DongHae, the Jullado boy?

I wanted to be a sportsman since elementary school, so playing in handball and soccer teams, I thought I would become one when I grow up. But one day, in second year of junior high...

Suddenly, on my way to school, dad asked me whether I had any ambitions to become a singer. I really liked dancing since I was little, but I hadn't even thought of becoming a singer, so I needed some time to think. But when I watched H.O.T. and ZechsKies performing, a new dream started to form.

I prepared for auditions with my dad's full support. And in 3rd year of junior high, Jullado boy DongHae finally goes to Seoul to participate at an audition...

Yes. my name is Lee DongHae.

DH[DH]
I can dance, and I practised singing as well.

I was so nervous at the audition that I was worried others might hear my heart beating, and my head was so busy that I'd forgotten what I'd just said. That was my first audition. I waited for a reply. But the reply I never got meant a rejection. So, I prepared for another audition. That, was the first failure of my life. But I proudly passed the second audition. In 2001, 3rd year junor high, I took a step closer to my dream.

Hyung! You know we have a talent shoot today?

...Yeah.

I mean, this day comes so soon every time! It's supposed to be once a week, but it feels like every day!

Being so timid naturally, every night after the talent shoot, I cried in the residence secretly. They were certainly crucial advices, but being so young, they easily hurt me. And often I hated myself for neing so incapable. But each time I got up, because "I had enough time" and thanks to my father.

(un)fortunately, I'm nearing the end of my highschool career, which practically doesn't put me in a healthy place to translate all the shows. However, I translated/am translating the DongHae show because, I mean, you just have the full obligation to know what this amazing boy went through. When I finish part 2 of the story, I will try and translate others as soon as I finish high school (in November). I'm not promising anything, because it's not the easiest job on earth to translate a radio show without a transcript...T_T But let's see &hope things work out.
