wow, a new pope!
Pope Benedict XVI, Joseph Ratzinger of Germany.
I'm no where near catholic, but that still sounds weird to me. it's incredible how much power and importance in the world is vested in a single man, a single office. a man selected from 115, cardinals whose position is granted to them by the church. iono, it's odd.
it's even stranger to think that there could be a pope other than john paul II. I guess that's the weirdest thing about all this; not that a new pope is weird, rather, it's odd that I think it's weird. I don't know, I'm rambling, but there had only been the one pope my entire life until now. and while, on a personal level, it matters very little who the pope is, I know that this is a major world event. and it really is important, even if I don't think it should be.
