Sketch dump - Contest
I haven't drawn too much lately.... but... The local anime con here was having a contest to draw their mascot as a a Magical Girl. So I thought it might be something I'm good at~ I shall dump it all here (and on tumblr... haha)
Beginning to plan... Tried to figure out what kind of theme to go with for her dress, and I settled on Saloon wear... because my city is nicknamed Cowtown... (The Calgary Stampede)
Starting to get more of an idea on her outfit...
One of the mascots recognizable traits is her scythe... so I really wanted to add that in to the final picture...

Now, to figure out a nice pose...

I really enjoy drawing someone so girly....
Final design, and then the clean, traced image. (When I'm happy with the pose, I'll usually take tracing paper and redraw the image cleanly to scan in... if the lines are definite, it makes it easier to do the linework on the computer)
After doing the lineart on the computer, I kind of did up a couple color schemes.... I really wish I could've made her all pink :T But one of the requirements was to include this year's theme color, orange, somewhere in her design.
Final product! I'm okay with how it turned out... but I'm never fully confident with any of my art or designs... so... let's hope for the best!! I got the confirmation email, and they said they would find out who the winner is in April :T We'll see how it goes~ Hahaha~
