ugh so i got horrible news today.
my (3rd) cousin got hit by a car crossing sunrise highway last night in seaford and died instantly.
my mom and her dad are cousins. and they are close so i have met her many times.
i no she is only my 3rd cousin but she was the sweetest girl i have ever met.
knowing that a teenager, expecially one of my own family died is probably the saddest thing.
her dad, grandpa, and aunt are all s taying at my house.
i'm not even gonna be able to look at them when they get here.
looking in the eyes of a family member who just lost their daughter is gonna be one of the hardest things ill have to do.
(07/09/06) SEAFORD - A hit-and-run on Sunrise Highway in Seaford Saturday night left one teen dead.
Police say 20-year-old Carissaann Santos of Hicksville was driving eastbound down Sunrise Highway. Jamie Carbonell, 19, was trying to cross the highway at the same time when Santos hit her. Police say after the accident Santos fled the scene. They say went to a nearby relative’s house, but then returned. Police arrested her because she left the accident. Carbonell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family and friends of Carbonell constructed a memorial to commemorate the accident. They say they are in shock over the tragedy. Santos was granted $2,000 cash bail and is expected back in court on Wednesday.
