I missed Louisville changing to spring. I missed the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair. Boo! During my visit last week, it still feels like I belong there. Driving into my neighborhood in Cincy after being gone for 5 weeks, it seemed foreign to me. Driving into the Highlands after not being there since November was not foreign at all.
When my parents and I got back to Cincy last week, spring had already sprung. I didn't witness the change. It will be foreign to me next year. No redbuds down south. :( Those and the other flowering trees already changed over to green in Louisville and Cincy, although I'm glad everything is green. Plus, during the drive back up to Illinois, there were redbuds waiting for me. Along I-39, there were tons of newly bloomed red buds! So, I missed the change where I live, but it's just happening in Northern Illinois. The lush green that's down south is about to happen here.
Driving to Louisville last weekend, I was surrounded by green trees, and in the cases where the highway splits and goes over hills, it was almost like driving through a green tunnel.
So, yay! Louisville! I miss it! I stayed with Jess and Glen. We played with the neighbor's foster kittens. Angela came over. We played Redneck Life which is awesome! Adri brought me an awesome purple knit hat that Sugarplum made me, as well as a journal which I am supposed to destroy and make messy! It'll be hard for me to make a mess of something pristine, but it should be fun trying. We went out for sushi with some of the other girls after that. I got the cooked rolls... A Crunch Munch and a Spider Roll. I don't want to tempt fate and eat raw fish (even though I want to!) and compromise my immune system. I don't drink for similar health reasons. Although, I'm finding that the better I feel, the more I push myself as far as being out and doing stuff... and I just hope I'll know when to say when.
Anyhoo, we went back to Chez Reid and crashed, watching the Bulls lose. :( Good night!
On Sunday, I woke up early. Glen bought donuts. We chowed down and then I left to meet Lene and the rest of the Sunday bunch for coffee. I even brought my Heine Bros. cup! After they went to church, I walked a bit in my old neighborhood before going to my old church. I miss walking. Partly for the sake of exercise, but mostly to be mobile and to see things. Bardstown Road is nice and flat and manageable for me at the moment. In Cincy, I live in a hilly area and while walking down to the square is easy, walking back would be a bitch. Doesn't mean I won't try it sometime over the next few weeks.
Went to church. Sat with some of my old choir members. I miss St. F. It means more to me than the churches in Freeport. There's a church in Cincy that I rather like, but so far it doesn't compare to St. F. So it's nice to be there and hear the cantor guy sing. Talk to my old choir director.
I met up with Lene and the rest of the lunch bunch again afterwards. Those always end up to be hit or miss for me, because I always get there last and have no choice where I'm sitting. And while I sat with some people I like, I would have liked to have sat with Lene and Sara and talk with them more. I'll just have to chat with them on the phone sometime.
Went back to Chez Reid and watched bad Bravo reality shows while making fun of them. Polished off the donuts. Then I beat Jess and Glen in a game of Phase 10. Mwahahaha! I was a good friend and never let on to Jess when I was giving myself shots while at her house, even though I did want to tease her a little. She hates needles and doesn't need to know!
I left their house at 6pm after a round of hugs. They're going to England this week, the lucky jerks! :) They'll have fun... and hopefully I'll make it there sometime soon.
I went to Highland Coffee for a hot chocolate topped with blackberry whipped cream before driving home to meet my parents in Cincy. They beat me home by about 45 minutes. Good thing they have keys!
So the next day we drove back to Illinois, in which I saw the redbuds I missed down south.
And the next day we went to my doctor's appointment in which I find out that my tumor shrunk by over half!!! My doctor told me that I looked terrific. And you can read the rest in my Caring Bridge, because I hate repeating myself in my journals. Although I will say that my cough is rarely there. My hair is growing back (it's at a little over a 1/4 of an inch). It grows faster than most people's, so hopefully I'll be wigless come summer. Who wants to wear a hot, itchy wig in the summer? Not me! And I can sleep normally at night. No more wedge. I'll bring it with me, just in case, but I don't miss having to use it. It's been nice to be able to crawl into bed and just curl up and go to sleep.
Oh, I do have to up the dosage of my medicine so that the tumor will keep shrinking. It will give me a worse rash, but if it kicks the tumor, then I will do it. I guess it will make me more tired too. :( I won't have to go back to the doctor for 6 weeks though, so I'll be in Cincy and at work for more than a month. That'll be nice. It's hard to get into the swing of things when you're only there for a week. I'm sure I won't have to work the night shift quite yet either. But, we'll see what we can do.
Tonight, I'm making my parents beef taco bake for dinner. Hahaha! Mexican food! Well, sort of. It's more like Mexican lasagna. I'm sure they'll like it.
