a birthday that i will never forget

So, Saturday was my 22nd birthday and things were so-so. My little brother, Joy (a friend of my mother) and I decided to go to Jackson with some friends for a cook-out. I ended up having a great time. It was the most active i've been since the hiking trip adn it was fabulous. I played frisbee, cricket, volleyball and a short game of soccer because my knee slipped out of play which just spoiled the 'whole baby party' i.e. the match. So we headed back to Memphis. When we got back home i was telling my family about all the fun stuff we did when SHAYA FUCKING GREGORY walks into my kitchen. It was the best surprise EVER. Everybody except Martin and I knew she was coming. I'm rarely surprised (save the Honor Court's going retirement party). So with my bum leg Shaya and I got dolled up (dresses heels!) and headed down to Beale Street after cake and laughs where we met up with my friend Gideon and his friends.

Sunday was World Cup at our house, which was packed, but Shaya and I had to leave before the final because we had to get ready for camp...my parents had my boss in on the secret too! So we arrive at camp and Shaya was put to work, she and two other counselors were asked to bring the golf carts to the lodge. Long story short the girl driving Shaya hit a tree, Shaya was ejected from the cart and thrown into a ditch. We spent 3 hours in the emergency room she received 20 stitches. The gash on her right leg was at least 3.5 inches and the one on the left foot went down to the bone, you could see her bone. She was a trooper because the stuff the doctor used to numb her leg wasn't enough and she could feel every stitch. I wanted to cry so badly. Betty had to stand between me and Shaya while they were doing the suitures because she could tell i was about to loose it. Thankfully we had a sense of humor about everything and the fact that Shaya is an amazingly strong, kind and understanding person we made it through. We came home to take care of her and are heading back to camp; yes she's going back. I have so much respect for that woman. Anywhoo i need to shower. Holla.
