Change of Pace

Well...

Since this post I have left Feltham forever. It's a strange thing to say - many of my belongings still reside there, including my favourite duvet cover, my old tapes that I spent part of my teenagerhood copying songs from the radio. In fact, my brother Elliott says when he last dropped in it still looked my room, just messier than usual. And I may go there from time to time - I plan to pillage my Dad's plots of land for free veg and make some chicken noodle soup for myself this summer. And its so much easier to get on with my father now that I hardly see him. He becomes my Dad again and not the overbearing self esteem sapping bullying of before.

I'm in Bow, in the vicinity of the Bow Bells. I like to think this will make me an honourary cockney if I stay here long enough, but Polyboyf Tom doesn't agree :p. It's the most central I've ever lived, or possibly any of my family ever lived, based in the suburbs of North west london. But  its cool. I've discovered the Roxy cinema on Borough high street. Me and Tom grabbed a squashy sofa and got to watch Mic Macs, Jeunet's latest film about mischief against Arms companies (Jeunet directed Amelie). I'm sooo going there again, cheap indie interesting awesome lovely cinemas are rarer than Pinto walking posts! Afterwards, me and Tom went walking around the area and found a space near the Clink - a prison built in the 1100s, with a Gourmet Burger on top of it now. And went to a clearing where the trees were draped in golden fairy lights with all of London around us and it was like Tom and I owned the city. We kissed and laughed and danced and bantered, nerding out over Doctor Who and London locations and I was never ever more in love than I was then (at least, out of bed...)

I'm in an ex/council estate on the fourth floor, where kids are playing all the time and I can see the Gherkin and city buildings from my small double room. It's painted in swedish colours and finally covered in posters. The TV aerials not working but I'm finally able to watch my DVDs as I've got my Dad's old DVD/TV thingy. I've got a burgeoning obsession with Alison Janney and Richard Schiff from the West Wing and I fully embrace it!

Work is good, but I've got the Dreamer's Disease (what song is that from?!) where I start thinking about What The Hell Am I Doing With My Life and that I should be a writer and have more freedom cos sometimes I just have nothing to do and I need more friends. Because the reason I left Manchester was because I needed people to see and there werent any available. And in London I'm always wondering if I can afford it, as I'm earning £433 a month. It's a joke (I'm an apprentice on as low pay the Government will deign to give me).

So, with the independence and the slight loneliness and poverty I deviate from joy to tears on a semi regular basis. As my good friend Annabel banged on the head I'm "Much less unhappy". Because I need to see more friends, manage my money and organise Doctors and pills (I've stopped taking pills since April - ever circling angst, bleurgh).

Anyway, I'll leave this post here as it's gettng epic, and will be starting on the 30 Days of Who (stolen from persiflage_1  and 30 Days of Me stolen from radiantbaby . I do hope to complete this properly and genuinely get back to writing. Watch this space :)
