A couple pieces of new information have come to my attention in the last couple of days. Firstly about my husband. After being retrenched in February this year, he took a job as the Office Administrator at our church. Initially it was on a one month trial which was extended by a month. After the 2 months were up we heard no more about being employed officially and hubby was a bit reluctant to ask in case of bad news. Several months go by and this situation continues. Then yesterday our Senior Pastor & Associate Pastor approach him for a chat. They say they have been praying about him & the job and have come to the conclusion that he is underutilised in this position and could do much better. They are also concerned about the rate of pay. They feel that as our kids grow older & approach highschool our costs will go up exponentially & they cannot afford to pay him any more than they are at present. Their suggestion is that he go out & look for a new job better suited to his qualifications and with more pay. They will continue to employ him while he does this & pay him as well. I am really not sure how I feel about all of this at this stage. Hoping I guess that he is able to get another job, especially given the current economic & employment climate.

Secondly my son. In the last week or so my youngest son has been mentioning some trouble at school between himself and a couple of other kids. Kids he has previously been good friends with. Today I had a meeting with his teacher about what has been going on. Apparently it all started with an incident while playing Bullrush, which turned into something of a physical fight.Following this the 2 boys in question gathered some mates together and began to pick on my son. Hiding his schoolbag, hiding his pencilcase, little things like that. My son had only one boy on his side. My son on the other hand has been swearing at these 2 boys & calling them names. ( He has recently been to a night at school where they learned where babies come from & seems to enjoy using all the new terms he has discovered for various body parts)He has also put his "rude finger" up at one of the mothers of the 2 boys. The teacher has been dealing with this whole situation, talking to all the parents involved & the children and making sure they know bullying will not be tolerated. I have to give her kudos for that. But I am very sad to hear my son has been the target of a gang of boys picking on him. Makes me mad as hell as well.
Nevertheless he will be apologising to the mother he gave the finger to & in trouble for swearing as well. Sometimes it hurts so much to be a Mum.
