If you've read my previous entry on the Standing Sushi Bar.. you'd have thought the spread at SSB was fabulous enough. But no no no no, not in this entry, at least not at Kaiho Sushi where we celebrated JW's birthday.
The birthday boy has yet again, managed to successfully jade our tongues one step further! But because birthday girl/boy has first dips on picking and choosing dining location, we have no choice but to oblige and follow. If SSB made my pockets weep, then Kaiho Sushi made my bank account weep. But, very very worthwhile in all aspects of sensory delight!
To commemorate that special ocassion, the birthday boy brought out his new baby toy, the lumix LX 3 that i have been lusting for! T_T It was so slim, so gorgeous, so nifty! Comparing between my semi-pro and his, i'd buy the LX3 in a heartbeat if not for its hefty price tag. Le sigh. It's okay! I love my fuji too <3 esp since it has accompanied me on my travels in conquering the states and nippon land of wondrousness. I just need to start exploring more of its nifty functions, i need more excuses and opportunities to bring it out :D
Kaiho Sushi, wonderful place, wonderful yummies!
The three of us rushed down to town after work to have a birthday meal at Kaiho Sushi. The only good thing about going down on a weekday, specifically Wednesday, was that we were the only souls in the little sushi restaurant. Very quiet, serene, and we received a lot of attention from the Chef behind the counter :p A couple joined us when we were midway through our meal, and that was all the customers they had for the night, or at least until we left.
Kaiho Sushi has set lunches but for dinner, it's either Omakase or a la carte. The birthday boy obviously had his omakase meal, splurged and almost went all out! Nor and i had a la carte and ordered a few dishes to share between us. Not omakase but just as satisfying on all levels!
The appetiser in mentai sauce :9
Thick succulent slabs of fresh sake sashimi..
Sigh, i could have endless plates of these :D
And then our highlight of the night! :D
Our Kaiho sushi platter.
I specifically requested to have aburi sake toro included in :p And the Chef threw in two pieces of both the Aburi Otoro and Aburi Sake Toro since he knew that me and nor were sharing the platter. How nice is that? :D I guess, it helps being the only customers there, i was really delighted with that little gesture of his.
Hmmmm my first try of the Aburi Sake Toro at SSB was good, but this one at Kaiho beats it on all counts! It melts in your mouth, it's soooo juicy and succulent. I almost melted in delight with the sushi in my mouth... T__T I could deal with 10 pieces of it now. Or maybe just order 10 pieces of the same thing. And then, the Aburi Otoro... Gawwwwwwwwwd, i do not know how to describe it, it was orgasmic! No wonder it costs a hefty S$10-13/piece. Price justified much, right?
More on my beautiful platter of sushi <3

We had a last serving of matcha ice cream (on the house). And i had two servings cos nor couldn't finish her's.. :D I shall try the yuzu (orange) one next, JW says it's better! :D
Okay, this is the end of my wonderful experience at Kaiho :D
