To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
- Emerson
i've done a lot of thinking today. dr. b had us reprioritize our lives, and even though it was just a simple in-class activity, it meant a lot to me. it made me realize that my priorities really are out of wack, and i need to fix that.
i'm forever reminded of duke zielinski's quote that i learned my first [and only] year at synchro camp:
"What are you willing to do today, in order to make your dreams come true?"
so that's what i'm going to work on. work on getting my life back where it needs to be in order for me to live out these dreams that i have. i think rascal flatts said it best when they said:
"you've been waiting all your life for a break like this
It's your chance of a lifetime you just know it is
you gotta go find those dreams..."
i could love you for a thousand years, and wish for a thousand more
