Laguna Beach
I'm not going to lie, I'm quite engrossed in Laguna Beach, and other teenie bopper reality (this goes along with my celebrity gossip obsession). At any rate, my Mom said something quite alarming while we were in San Fran. She is under the impression that 20-somethings are too shaped by reality TV. That we think it is the way life is supposed to be and are upset when it doesn't work out that way. Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I went to high school, and Laguna Beach is definitely not my reality. It wasn't then, and it isn't now. It is no more my reality than Real World or Newlyweds or Survivor or any other reality series. These shows are entertainment, if they were taping real reality it would be quite boring for most of us. While I like my life, I somehow doubt that millions of viewers would enjoy watching me nap or sit around and watch TV for hours on end. I think it's silly to give reality TV that much control, and anyone who thinks that reality TV is that realistic and that powerful is not living in the real world.......
