At work with nothing to do......

Here's the San Francisco update since I can't find anything to do at work.....

Monday: We slept in as late as we could then stopped at Starbucks for caffiene refreshment before heading to take the F Train down to Fisherman's Warf. We got there and found out we couldn't go to Alcatraz til Thursday so we bought tickets for that and reserved spots on a bus tour for Tuesday. Then we went to the Wax Museum and Ghirradeli Square. We came back and had lunch at a place on Pier 39 then went to the Aquarium. I am not a huge Aquarium person, but this was amazing. I would definitely recommend it. They have an underwater tunnel so you are surrounded by the fish - it's really really cool. After that we stood in line for an hour and a half to ride a cable car then went back to the hotel and got rested before we went out for dinner. For dinner we went to Moose's - this really cool like trendy American food place (yum!).....

Tuesday: We were picked up at the hotel for our tour at 9:10. The city tour went from 10-1:30 and we went all over the place. We saw all the major districts, Golden Gate Park, Alamo Square (the place where they filmed the opening credits for Full House), and the Golden Gate Bridge. After the tour we had lunch at this great Vietnamese place at the Ferry Building then went to the Museum of Modern Art where we saw a whole display of what could be considered scribble. I got a poster though and a deck of San Francisco cards. Then we headed back to the hotel and relaxed for a while before we went to a yummy Italian place for dinner.

Wednesday: The adventure to wine country. We rented a car and drove up to Yountville where we had lunch and shopped a bit. Then we went to Sonoma (much cuter than I expected by the way) and shopped a little there. We stopped at a creamery and had some cheese and wondered around. Then we headed back towards San Fran and went to the Muir Woods. They were really cool - the trees were amazing, we hiked through there for a bit then left cause it was getting late and we wanted to go to Saulsalito, besides if you've seen one big tree you've seen them all. Saulsalito was a neat town, lots of great views. After we wondered there for a while we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge then down Lombard Street. We took the car back and headed to Chinatown for dinner.

Thursday: A day at sea......first we went to Angel Island (it was a military base, then a Japanese Internment Camp). Angel Island was really neat - the tour was fun. After the tour we had a picnic lunch then went to Alcatraz. I was a little disappointed with Alcatraz. I expected it to be a lot darker and more scary. Not that I wanted to be scared, but I didn't expect prison to be so jolly. It was still neat. After Alcatraz we stopped at Pier 39 and I purchased various and assorted gifts for various and assorted people. Then we went home and rested before Beach Blanket Babylon. Before the show we went to a cute little Italian place and had appetizers then went to see the show. Beach Blanket Babylon was so funny.....anyone who goes to San Fran should definitely see it. After the show we had some real dinner then headed back to the hotel to bed.

Friday: This was the day of leisure. We got up and took a cable car towards Fisherman's Warf and had breakfast at the Beuna Vista Coffee Shop (the home of the 1st Irish Coffee in San Fran). Then we took a bus up to Coit Tower which had amazing views of the city. Then we took another bus to the Castro District where we shopped and had lunch. After that we were tired so we went back to the hotel for a while then went to see Stomp at 6. Stomp was good, but Beach Blanket Babylon was better.....The night ended with dinner at John's Grill (the inspiration for the Maltese Falcon).

Saturday: A very long plane ride back to DC.

All in all, the trip was a lot of fun. San Fran is a great city, the best thing about it is the weather......By the end of the trip though I was ready to come home. There was a little too much togetherness being had with Mom and I needed a break. I'm actually kinda glad to be back in Cuse in my apartment.
