As promised, I would deliver the good news. I just needed a time to sit down and actually do it. So yea, my life basically rocks right now. Let me tell you why.
First off, I'm not that upset that I got rejected from the Los Angeles deal. They turned down me, Vova, Jeff, Warren and Matt for some people who "looked better". Seriously dude, screw them. They wouldn't know talent if it came up and bit them in the face and I hope their commercial sucks. I bet it will too. Air date is around April 5th, so if you see it, send an angry email to cccast@mac.com and tell them how you could think of better jugglers to do the commercial. Haha, not really, but yea. But no.
Second, I rock. We (juggling club) have a performance on Thursday and I can get people tickets if they want them. If you read this, you're obviously my friend and I'm extending an invitation to the event. If you have nothing to do at 8 on Thursday, please come and support me, it would really mean a lot. If you're interested, get in touch with me. I finally get to perform my solo routine, which will blow people's heads off, I promise. I ran through it a bunch over the past couple days and I got it dropless twice yesterday. Go me!
Next, relay for life is a great event. Of course, I brought my stuff and juggled. That attracted a few people to come by and say hi, which I liked. I met my teammates Julie and Brit, both residents of Pilar's floor and we had a good time walking around the track, tossing a frisbee and enjoying birthday cake. Then the Action (formerly Skatos) played at two in the morning. FUCKING ROCK!!! These guys are amazing and as soon as I heard them, I grabbed like half a dozen people and went dancing. Holy shit it was awesome. That's when I met Alexandra.
Have you ever met someone that restored your faith in the opposite sex? That's Alex. For a while I thought girls were still going to be impossible to talk with, always disguising the conversation with some cryptic doublespeak. It has been a long time since I could have a chat with someone so casual, about nothing, but about everything. It was really a great time. Since I had my juggling stuff at the dome, the subject eventually drifted to what I did for fun. I talked about juggling for a bit then told her a little known fact about jugglers that I just came across myself. We're really dancers with props. As a way of demonstration, I ran through one of my routines. She described it as unreal. I guess it really is. Talking continued, event was over and I went home.
Monday went well, I was just happy because cultural ecology discussion got canceled. Score one for the good guys. I dislike my TA with a great passion. He's very bad at telling us what is important to study or remember. Whatever, just a little longer with him and that's all done for. Alex called me around three and we went for a stroll in the graveyard. She had to take pictures for her class and I had quite the knowledge of the graveyard from our first year sledding experiences. All I can say is thank God she's not freaked out by graveyards. I remember one of the first people I met at college was Torie and she cried at the thought of walking through a cemetery, so that enjoyable fall evening was canned. Not to mention all the people that are straight up afraid of them after dark. I think they're just calm. Anyway, we did that for an hour, she got her photos, I went home and wrote a paper. It was probably the most enjoyable paper I've ever written. I had Susan B. Anthony and an anti-suffragist get in a food fight with each other.
I don't know if my mood just changed magically or it happened sometime during the relay for life, but I've been feeling so good lately. Another thing I'm happy about is the concrete decisions I can make. I didn't have any self doubt concerning some choices I made in the past few days and that is SO RELIEVING. On top of that, I have such confidence that I'm going to nail my routine at the recital on Thursday, I have no doubt that it's going to go very well. Finally, it's getting warmer. Juggling on the quad again is only a weekend away! I'm feeling so good about this, I'm changing my facebook status.
Really, if you want to have an awesome evening on Thursday and come see your favorite juggler/dancer, call me, talk to me, whatever. I really want to share this with my friends.
