I'm so-------o excited as I'm off to Providence in a few hours, well after I go in to do a bit of work at the hospital prior to my flight, that is!! I cannot wait! So, I'm packed and the girls are taken care of. Honestly, I don't think they have noticed one bit with being spoiled with the guest room access these past few weeks!!
In other news, I've been doing quite a bit of thinking lately about jobs and have concluded at this point in time that I'd be willing to take LESS pay working in nuclear cardiology (if need be) so that I can work closer to home based on the following reasons: 1) it would give me an hour to two hours of my life back-this comes from my commute 2) I'm fairly certain that any wage I get in nuc cardiology will one day be WELL worth the sacrifice and I WILL be properly compensated 3) I wouldn't have to worry about being on-call and 4) it would allow me more mental freedom to lead the life I want. This came up as a result of a conversation I had with one of the technologists I work with at my nuc cardio clinical site. I was basically told that new grads likely wouldn't be paid at quite the level as they would the hospital I'm currently employed. I'm not too concerned as I believe it is only a difference of a dollar or two an hour. Realistically, when you calculate all the commute time, the wages aren't really *that* different.
