Not sure what the significance is, but here ya go

In my recent post about Poseidon, I mentioned that I’d randomly grabbed a book of esoteric fiction from my library to be my “nighty-night sleep tight” read-not realizing ‘til I went to work on the Poseidon post that the title was significant, in other words The Earth Will Shake. It heralded the approach of Poseidon again for me, not that he ever really goes away but at times I need a clue-by-four to feel him. He’s subtle and ever present like waves on the shore, but occasionally they need to crash! (“polyphloisbois thalassas” thinks sunvenus, waxing all onomatopoeic & Greek) to really grab your attention.

Now in The Earth Will Shake-- set in Naples-- it talks about the blood of St. Gennaro liquefying and how such a miracle could just be a scam of the Church. This miracle is said to occur only twice a century, and it is accompanied by much celebration. In RAW’s The Earth Will Shake it is also said to occur “whenever Napoli needed a reminder that their patron saint was still thinking of them”. (pg 59) Imagine my surprise this evening when I came across this story on my homepage.

Naples hails miracle as saint's blood liquefies
Rueters, September 20th 2008 12:40am

NAPLES, Italy (Reuters) - Thousands of Neapolitans crowded into the city's cathedral on Friday to witness the miracle of Saint Gennaro -- whose dried blood is said to liquefy twice a year, 17 centuries after his death.

Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, archbishop of Naples, announced the blood turned to liquid at 9:45 a.m. (8:45 a.m.) and the glass phial was paraded to crowds outside, who set off fireworks in celebration.

"It (the saint's blood) is the seed of hope for all of us," Sepe said.

Legend has it that when Gennaro was beheaded by pagan Romans in 305 A.D., a Neapolitan woman soaked up his blood with a sponge and preserved it in a glass phial.
The substance usually turns to liquid twice a year - on September 19, the saint's feast day, and on the first Saturday in May.

The miracle was only first recorded in 1389, more than 1,000 years after Gennaro's martyrdom.

More scientifically minded sceptics say the "miracle" is due to chemicals present in the phial whose viscosity changes when it is stirred or moved.

Some Neapolitans fear disaster may strike the city if the blood of the fourth-century martyr does not turn to liquid.

Disaster has struck at least five times after the blood failed to liquefy, including in November 1980 when some 3,000 people died in a massive earthquake that struck southern Italy.

Naples has endured a difficult year, with the historic port city's image stained by a trash crisis that saw rotting rubbish pile up in city streets.

Then next to that story is this gem, also tied into The Earth Will Shake as Mozart is a minor (and minor) character in it when our hero Sigismundo Celine is travelling about Europe.

Unknown score written by Mozart found in France
Rueters, September 20th 2008 3:13am

NANTES, France (Reuters) - A French municipal library has discovered a musical score handwritten by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in its archives, the Nantes town hall said on Thursday.

The one-page work, donated to the town by a private collector at the end of the 19th century, was until recently thought to be a copy rather than an original.

The unpublished score, measuring 16 cm by 29 cm (6.5 by 11.5 inches), is thought to have been written around 1787, according to an expert musicologist from the Mozarteum university in the composer's native city of Salzburg in Austria.

The score is undergoing a second round of expert investigations, Nantes authorities said.
"A Mozart autograph is hugely valuable. There are lots of them in the vaults of Swiss banks," said Michel Noiray, head of the French centre for research on musical heritage.
Mozart was one of the most prolific classical composers. He died in 1791 at the age of 35, leaving over 600 known pieces of music.

That which is hidden is made manifest. Or is it?

What do I make of these odd stories, happening right now, just one day after I finished a book that speaks of these things? I’ve been taught to look at events that seem like coincidence as potential guideposts from the universe/the gods/my subconscious/etc. in order to signal that I am headed in the right way in a line of work or spiritual endeavour. Of course, I try to balance such “coincidence finding” with a huge dose of rationality and common sense-I have no wish to end up like David Icke or Richard C Hoagland, conspiracy nutballs who see goblins, mystical numbers and Freemasons everywhere (not that I’d mind the Freemasons or the numbers), or like some of those dolts who deal well with magick & the numinous for a few decades but eventually end up screaming about evil fluoridaters and mind-control. You know.

But this? I think it verges on really being “just coincidence”. Sure, I can take it to mean something, take it to mean that perhaps I am having my awareness expanded somewhat and things that may have escaped my notice are now triggering bits in my psyche. Or maybe I am getting a bit nutty myself, too much Qabalah and Qaballa and too much winter research and not enough sunshine and fresh air. Or maybe-- just maybe-I am doing something right, and the things I have been doing that I feel are random are also important to the work I am engaged in. Even in rest I am being taught. Weird.

Nah, I think I’m just a bit self-absorbed, but also, everything is just a little bit magical.

Tomorrow I am going out to do some birding: a Wedge Tail Eagle is sitting her nest and I’m going to go observe her for a bit. It’ll be pretty funny if it turns out to be a Sea Eagle. Then I’d feel sure that Poseidon was really trying to get my attention.

And a quick gardening update: too hot to do much outside today (30 degrees plus!), instead I read on the lounge in the house, and took a lovely nap. I did get the nasturtiums and oregano planted, so maybe on Monday I will get around to all the rest of the flower & herb planting. And I must-- MUST-- get another frangipani cutting or two. I really want some potted, mini frangipani trees this year.

Just had an adult female Laughing Kookaburra dropped off with beak injuries: tip of bottom beak broken off, and an injury to the soft palate in the upper portion of the beak, inside the mouth. (I’m calling the soft palate, can’t find my damned bird anatomy book right now but that is what it would correspond to in a human). Lots of tarry black poo, hopefully just from blood she swallowed (lots of blood in the mouth from the broken beak-tip) and not a sign of internal injuries. Condition fairly good otherwise; maybe a bit lethargic and slightly concussed, am re-hydrating and stabilising and will take to vet in the morning.

And yes, Laughing Kookaburras-all kingfishers in fact-are symbols of Poseidon. He’s so in my face these days… wonder what he wants? I guess a duck could be considered his as well, huh? I’m listening Poseidon, and I’m glad you are here.
