The sky was crying heavly and it was surprisingly cold for that part of the year. The warm, dry inside of the car was so tempting to stay in but he knew he had to get out and face the cold of the early evening. He sighed heavly for the last time before he looked at the jewelery store across the street and took a ring out of his pocket. "What the hell happened to us, Kate?" he whispered in the air. Jack got out of his car and started walking towards the jewelery where he was just about to return the engagement ring and leave his broken heart on the counter.

(This song was the first song that played on Winamp after I watched the finale of LOST. It was a total coincidence, the whole playlist was around 40 songs but the player was put on shuffle and the first song that appeared was this one. Everytime I hear it on the radio or somewhere else it reminds me of the way I felt that day - sleepy, exhausted and a little broken from the fact that one of my fav shows was over.)

Every dark night he worries that one of the injured survivors won't make it. Every morning he worries that there won't be enough water for everybody. Every day on this craphole island he worries he won't be able to protect them all like he is supposed to.
