Hello everyone!
Chapter 17 is written... in my head... which is good.
I'm here, though, to invite a round table discussion on a bit of controversy...
You see, there is a plot point (a flashback point rather than a moment in our "current" storyline) that has been bothering me. I am locked in a debate with myself as to whether or not I should include this bit of information, and I would like to present the idea and invite discussion.
You see... it's not a vital plot point.. it isn't an important scene or a bit of necessary dialog, it is purely character exploration which means it can be excluded... but... well.... read on if you choose.
In my universe, with my Lois, I absolutely cannot fathom or come to grips with the fact that Lois' first reaction to being pregnant would NOT be to get an abortion. Now I don't want to get political about this, I don't want to argue whether that train of thought is right or wrong, but I want to include into my story her reaction to her pregnancy, the fact that she defaults to not wanting the baby, and then (obviously) changes her mind and why that might be.
Whether we agree with it or not, no matter, the fact remains that in this country it is an option for women. My Lois WOULD have IMMEDIATELY thought to abort Jason.
However, I am adamant, in fact strictly so, about introducing personal ideas into fanfiction. My exploration of this topic would NOT reflect a moral standing, but the topic is SO controversial and so emotionally and morally charged in our society that it would definitely agitate the mix, whether I intended it to or not.
So... do I include it... or not?
