Buster update

After the X-rays yesterday, things are looking up a bit more. There doesn't appear to be any cancer anywhere in his chest or digestive system. This is a pretty good sign that we caught it early.

Prognosis without treatment is 30-50 days. With chemo 10-14 months unless he goes into remission then it can be even longer. We're definitely gonna try all we can to keep him around.

Bad news? He must have hurt his foot jumping out of the truck yesterday. Now not only is he limping on his back leg, he's limping on the front one on the same side! This really hurts my heart to see him in so much pain. I gave him some Rimadyl even though the doc said it's a no-no while on chemo. We won't be seeing the oncologist until next Friday anyway. (I did put a call into the vet this morning to see how long before the chemo he can be on it.) I asked his regular vet, Dr V. if this would be too long. We could run him up to the University. He said the students gum up the works sometimes, so he'd wait til Friday and that it won't make a difference at all. That seemed kinda odd with the 30-50 day diagnosis. Then again, maybe since it hasn't spread anywhere else yet....

It makes tears me up inside to go through this. He's such a good dog. He doesn't deserve this at all. I served him dinner and water in bed last night, because the floor where his food is causes him to spread his toes as to not slip. (It's tile) He skipped his routine of eating after going potty, and I couldn't bear thinking he hadn't eaten or drank anything all day. :(

Man, for not wanting to like this animal at all, I sure am whipped, eh?

Gratuitous Buster, again (Not hard to see why I'm so whipped, huh?)
