This is a reminder about our annual End of Summer Pool and Barbeque Party on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2PM until whenever in Melrose, MA. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.
Feel free to bring musical instruments so that group music may happen. Once it's dark out, there will be fire performance. Fire performers should contact me, particularly about being fire marshal and having fire safeties while others are performing.
While we’ll supply a quantity of hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and beverages, the party is essentially a pot-luck and we encourage people to bring food to share. Alcohol will be present for those over 21 only, please enjoy responsibly. We'll also provide two hot grills and a swimming pool. Please keep any glass including bottles out of the pool area. A bathing suit or reasonable equivalent is required; our neighbors are mundane and can see into the pool area. Well-behaved and supervised children are welcome, but be aware that the house is not at all kidproof. Children must be supervised by a parent or other specific caregiver in the pool area at all times.
Please clean up after yourselves, particularly making sure that your trash and recycling gets put in one of the many bags that we’ll provide. The main bedroom upstairs will be quiet space for nursing mothers and other folks who need a few minutes of less crowd and noise. This is not kid play space or romantic space. One indoor-only cat is in residence, medicate yourselves as needed.
Please do not cross-post or forward this invite. If you'd like to bring friends from off-list, please let us know and be sure to introduce them to us when they arrive. Make sure that they're folks who will be
comfortable with a geek/pagan/poly crowd.
Parking Info: On-street parking is readily available all around our area, but Melrose has a No Parking On-Street After 2AM rule and now will ticket cars. Waivers are available but they require one to be filled out for each separate car. We'll have a stack of waiver forms and would prefer to deliver them to the police station earlier rather than later in the evening.
Please avoid parking on the little side street by our house and be considerate of the neighbors, especially late at night. In particular, when leaving late at night if your car or bike has loud pipes or audio, please resist the temptation to show them off. We value having a peaceable relationship with our neighbors. Likewise, when watching the fire performing please stay off the neighbors' lawns. There is no smoking anywhere on the property. Crash space is only available by special arrangement.
