Agile Home
Originally uploaded by Suraj KumarHere's a new attempt at my home to Get Things Done using a customised Agile Methodology. Here are the features of this methodology:

  • The work area is divided into four weeks.
  • Each week is divided into two rows, one for each of us (Me vs my Wife)
  • Each week is divided into two columns (Not done vs Done)
  • Tasks are colour coded: Pink -> Recurring; Yellow -> High priority one-time item; Green -> Low priority one-time item.
  • Further, weekly recurring tasks have a week number written on a pencil at the top of the sticky.

Execution:
  • For a task that I own, I'm the 'Owner' and Deepti is the 'Master' and vice-versa. Every Saturday noon, we meet;
  • Each person working on the task is allowed to move a task from the 'not done' side to the 'done side' ONLY. They CANNOT move the task from one week to another. Only the scrum master is the only one who can move a task from one week to another. When a task slips (and is sufficiently justified by the owner that it cannot be done on the subsequent sunday), the scrum master adds a 'star' using a pencil on the sticky and moves it to the next week.
  • Weekly recurring tasks MUST be done every week. These are vital survival tasks (ex: get water or get vegetables).
  • Weekly completed tasks's corresponding week number at the top is struck off and moved to the next week by the Scrum master.
  • At the end of the month, the scrum master will have to do the following:
    • Move recurring tasks from done area to the not-done area.
    • Erase the weekly numbers and put it back to Week 1's sprint.
    • Erase the one-time activity tasks (Green, Yellow). If no other one-time activities are on both the people's minds, ensure some other 'fun' idea is on it (ex: Go-karting). Hand over the new 'fun' task to the other person for mastering.
