_Bhavayami Gopalabalam_ and related Cacophony

Its been exactly 71 days since I got Saya. Everytime I sit and jam a little bit of 'signal' turns out from all the noise I generate. This time I decided to record all my jamming and 'pick out' parts that seem decent enough.

Firstly, I managed to record Bhavayami Gopalabalam (this is the 3rd take where everything went well except the 'niratakara kalita' line where I sorta goofed up :D, please don't mind ;) ).

I decided to not use any metronome. So it might sound very 'plain' (there isn't even a 'shruthi' in the background so its just pure mandolin).

There are several other random pieces that I recorded as well:
  • Don't Werry, Be Heppy is my Carnaticized version of the famous song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" (yes, the old Cadbury's ad tune :) ). Why 'Werry', 'Heppy', etc.,.? well, no reason really. I just love things Mallu and thought it sounds cute ;) I don't have the song and I don't remember much of the song so what I've rendered is just the first two or three lines. I like the concept but i need to improve on my presentation skills ;/
  • Mostly Harikambhoji is a random alapanai-like jam in Harikambhoji. I think there are some cute phrases in there.
  • Mostly Mohanam is a random alapanai-like jam in something that is, well, "Almost" Mohanam (imagine a 'n2' in mohanam occuring occasionally (NOT just the descent d2 ghamakkam)).
  • Mostly Yamunakalyani - same as above, except we are talking about Yamunakalyani here.
  • Mostly Hamsanandhi - is not even hamsanandhi to begin with -- has a 'pa' in the beginning but its almost hamsanandhi :D
  • Mini Major is a mini set of phrases in the Major Scale - Shankarabharanam.

charlesj, Distorted 25 is what you should listen to if you want to know how the mandolin sounds when 'distorted'. I used the opening verses of Mozart's Symphony#25 and distorted it a bit ('distorted' in all possible senses) (Due Apologies to Mozart ;) ).

Please do let me know what you think of the recordings!
