A Trip down south

We (My parents, my pet and I) are in Madurai right now.

My father got very nostalgic about his home town, his roots, etc.,. and my mother got very religious and wanted to visit all sorts of temples. Hence the trip. To me, this is just one break from all the 'cold' weather in Bangalore. Man, this place is HOT. extremely HOT. I thought we would be driving down in floods, but its scorching since the time we arrived ;/

The food here _rocks_. Had dinner at "College House" for Rs.30/- I get an amazing "unlimited meal" that even comes with a proper 'EOF' signal (naattu vazhappazham! a.k.a country-banana(?)) The 'waiter' is truly a waiter. He waits next to you, watching all your 'cups' and 'plates' and making sure that they are properly "full" all the time. People are _so_ helpful. The waiter at 'Arya Bhavan' actually told us that the 'vadai' would be cold and hence it is not recommended that we have it. Who on earth would drive down their own business? :) On the way to this 'browsing center' I went to a 'potti kadai' to get cigarettes and the guy who was in _front_ of me in the queue told the shop keeper to serve me first -- "dei, annanukku oru packet kings kudu, apparama enakku tea-ya podu" (literal translation: "Give 'brother' a packet of 'kings' and then give me my 'tea'").

Tomorrow, after all the diwali rituals, we would head to Kanyakumari, watch sunset and sunrise and then the next day go to Tirukkurangudi (which is supposedly our "native" place) near tirunelveli and then back to madurai by Wednesday evening. We would leave Madurai on Thursday morning and reach b'lore by Thursday night. Back to work on Monday after taking some "rest" on Friday, saturday and sunday. ;/
