I have a recurring theme in my dreaming. I find myself either in or contemplating going into a spa, either a building or set of buildings with a garden and water features, full of gay men. They're all naked, and doing spa things: bathing, taking a steam bath or a sauna, sitting in a jacuzzi, getting a massage or just relaxing. It's entirely different from a sex club or bathhouse. They're conversing, some animatedly, introductions made all around. Some go off to have sex together, some have sex in full view, but that doesn't seem to be the main focus. It's about unwinding.
What strikes me as the difference between the vibe in these spaces I imaging and the sex environments I've visited is how relaxed the men are. There's no desperation and no furtiveness. It's pretty zen, but not in a rigid way. Sharing pots of tea, lying in sunlight or the heat of a fire, enjoying each others' company or even their hawtness, no one is on the hunt. They're simply being, in the here and now. Most of the physical contact involves holding hands or scrubbing someone's back in a tub. There's no pretense of not-queerness, or that there isn't an erotic energy to the surroundings. It's simply accepted as part of the pleasure of the environment.
In these dreams the layout of these spaces vary widely. They can be sleek and modern or ancient. They can have outdoor elements or indoor. They're all comfortable, clean and attractive. There might be old clawfoot bathtubs, Japanese furo or portable canvas tubs in tents. The vibe is fairly consistent. No matter what the physical surroundings are, there's a sense of common purpose: enjoyment of hot water, repose, and the company of men.
