I don't understand why people take photographs of car accidents. It boggles my mind. it's almost sadistic if you think about it. One of the worst days of someone's life is being photographed... with no sense of respect for the victim. I ran an MVA last night - Terrible, SUV rollover, Jaws of life were used.. and people just stood there taking pictures. I understand that people are curious and that people want gossip. I understand its like a train wreck.. terrible to look at but you can't look away. I know lights and sirens are exciting. But watching is different then taking photographs. When you see someone's car smashed to pieces.. fire department cutting people out... on the the pt's thrown through the windshield.. blood, glass, everywhere - let us do our job. Say a silent prayer. You may stay and watch... but don't talk to me, don't ask me what's going on, don't bother me and don't take pictures. Any time I spend dealing with you is less time away from my patient, and trust me if roles were reversed and you were on the ground.. you'd want me with you, not dealing with curious bystanders. Ughhh... This is just one of the biggest pet peeves I have. BIGGEST.
( Word to the wise... if you have anything HEAVY in the back of your truck; expecially an SUV.. secure it down. When a car flips, everything in the trunk becomes projectile. Just get a simple bungee cord- it will cost you a few bucks, but trust me, it is worth it more then you know. Trust me its not pretty. )
