They changed the booster seat law in VA and now kids have to be in them until they are 8. You can read about it here.  I feel for the parents who will have to listen to their kids who have been out of a child seat for a while and now have to go back into one.  I'm also glad they've done it now so when Mads gets to that point it'll be "normal."  I think it's good.

There are other laws, too, not mentioned in the article -- like kids can no longer ride unrestrained in the cargo area of vehicles.  An old law that most people break is that no one under 16 is supposed to ride in the back of a pick-up truck.  I think the big difference with a lot of these is that they will actually be enforcing them and you can be pulled over for violating them even if you have done nothing else wrong.  Oh, you can read about the other new laws here.

Good luck to all the parents who now have to go buy booster seats for their kids!
