Summary: Strict parents, unsupportive friends, and a ten times more successful little sister -Sungmin almost had it all, or so he thought until he met his disgusting two-timer, skirt-chaser, sex-addict neighbor and the different girls he brought home every night. When said neighbor turns out to be Sungmin's only hope after his mother's ultimatum, he discovers that insanity could be just one step away.
“So let me make this clear,” Sungmin had found his will to speak after a staring contest between the two. “You are a womanizer,” he started, holding one finger up at the other’s direction, “perverted creeper,” he added another one, “and to top it all off, you are gay?”
Kyuhyun grimaced at the other’s statement, looking at the three fingers the smaller was holding up for him. Sungmin was flabbergasted, to say the least, there was no other word to how he was feeling right now. Kyuhyun was beyond explanation; he was too much to deal with and he had once again been reminded. However, the older didn’t think it was possible for a human being to hold such highly dangerous amount of crap on top of his shoulders. He decided to play Kyuhyun’s game too.
“I’m not gay!” the brunet shrieked, disliking how the situation had turned out. He was the one to sound like a girl now. Oh, cruel world.
“Me neither, you moron,” Sungmin huffed, glaring at the other with irritation. “And you don’t see me asking you out, do you?”
“I was just kidding,” Kyuhyun sheepishly replied, scratching the back of his head and looking at the floor in embarrassment. He had obviously been waiting for a different reaction. Sungmin could tell by the way the latter didn’t seem ready for what blew on his face. The brunet stood up with a start, bringing the blankets with him and dropping them on the couch. His gaze was on the other man who looked entertained with his answer.
“Gay,” Sungmin commented, not caring that Kyuhyun had been only joking. “Thank God I found out,” he continued after the other pouted involuntarily; it didn’t suit him,” now I know to keep my distance.”
“You aren’t funny anymore,” Kyuhyun sulked as if there was a dark cloud above him, making the situation all the more enjoyable for the other.
“Doesn’t make you any less gay”
The taller kept pouting by the time Sungmin couldn’t hold his self-restrain anymore and broke into a hysteric laugh, filling the entire room with the joyous melody. His eyes were curved upward, as if they were smiling too, and the tinted red color of his cheeks had started to spread through his whole face. Kyuhyun thought he was lacking oxygen, and commanded him to take deep breaths before it was too late. This only made Sungmin’s laughter increase its intensity and volume; the man had to grab the back of the couch to keep from falling on his weak knees.
“Don’t pout,” the older gasped between intakes of breath, “you look ridiculous.”
Kyuhyun looked at him as if he was thinking about strangling the other man to death, hating the fact that nothing seemed to stop Sungmin from making fun of him. When he realized he couldn’t fight it anymore, the smaller’s laughter seemed contagious. Kyuhyun found himself laughing along too, not even caring how stupid he must have looked agreeing with Sungmin’s joke. He fell on the couch, the older right next to him, struggling to keep breathing as their combined laughter died down. And then there was only silence merged with the sound of their chests harshly going up and down.
“What did you mean last night?” Kyuhyun took the opportunity to ask after he had acquired enough air in his lungs to speak. “When you said you wanted to make a deal with me…” he trailed off, directly looking at Sungmin who had his back against the couch’s seat. The smaller was sitting upside down from the fall, with his legs hanging on the backrest and his gaze on the ceiling. Kyuhyun could see that the smile the man had on his face didn’t waver; it didn’t get bigger either but at least it was still present. He liked Sungmin’s smile for some reason.
“Ah, that!” The man exclaimed as if he had been taken by surprise. He struggled to sit upright, raising his upper half with his elbows and gathering enough strength to take his legs off the backrest. With fast movements, he was sitting properly next to the taller man, not even apologizing about the fact that he had almost hit Kyuhyun’s face with his feet.
“I need your help,” Sungmin stated matter-of-factly, making the other raise an eyebrow at him.
“Wanna discuss it over breakfast?” Kyuhyun inquired after the older had gone quiet, not really enjoying the mystery of the situation.
Sungmin looked up as if thinking about what to answer, trying to figure out if it was okay to say yes to Kyuhyun. He was about to agree, not being bothered by the idea of spending time in the other’s presence anymore. All of a sudden, his eyes widened in awe; it looked like he had remembered something important. Sungmin yelped, startling the other man that hadn’t been expecting his reaction.
“Can’t!” the man cried, quickly stating up as Kyuhyun’s eyes followed his form. “I have to go somewhere,” he announced halfway to his bedroom, too caught up with the situation to pay attention to the brunet.
Kyuhyun sighed, looking to where Sungmin had disappeared behind his bedroom doors in silence. He was slightly disappointed yet he didn’t quite comprehend why. The thought of spending some time with the blond had cheered him up momentarily; he really liked the older because Sungmin was fun to hang out with. Maybe it was the thrill of meeting someone, and the first weeks of starting to know them that made Kyuhyun feel good.
The brunet was too caught up in his thoughts to notice when Sungmin came out of his room. The man had his black hair neatly brushed to the side and put in place, with the exceptions of a few strands falling on his forehead. Wearing a pair of black dress pants that fit his form perfectly and a tucked-in white shirt, the man looked like a business man ready for a meeting. Kyuhyun wanted to ask where he was headed to, but he decided against it since Sungmin hadn’t told him in the first place. Still, it didn’t make him any less curious.
“Meet me for lunch later?” Sungmin asked, putting on his watch that had been lying on the coffee table. Kyuhyun drew his gaze to the man’s face, noticing the latter’s concentrated expression and how his eyebrows furrowed when he was focused.
“Sure, where?” the brunet replied seemingly uninterested. In truth, he was glad Sungmin was the one who came up with the suggestion.
“I feel like eating Chinese,” the man shrugged, fishing his phone from his front pocket and tapping on the screen. “Whatever you want is fine though,” he added, handing the phone to Kyuhyun who astonishingly took it from him.
“Give me your phone number, you weirdo,” Sungmin impatiently said when the younger didn’t seem to get him. “I’ll call you when I’m done with my job interview later,” he announced, raising an eyebrow when Kyuhyun smiled at his statement.
“What do you do?” the brunet asked, “for a living, I mean,” he corrected before the other could reply.
“I’m a journalist,” Sungmin replied nonchalantly, taking his phone from the taller once he had finished typing his number. “Anyway I’ll see you later,” he added and retreated back to his room, stopping midway to turn around and take a look at the man that was still sitting on his couch.
“And Kyuhyun,” giving a small smile that somehow looked fake, he waved at the brunet and spoke for the last time.
“Get out.”
-----
Kyuhyun slipped inside his own apartment minutes after Sungmin had kicked him out of his, looking around the perimeter as usual. Thinking about what the older man had told him last night, he figured it was really stupid having to hide from girls he didn’t want to see anymore. But it isn’t like Kyuhyun wasn’t aware of this fact; he already knew the level of idiocy of his actions. Still, having to deal with sappy girls’ feelings wasn’t an option; he realized he wouldn’t want change his way of coping with them. And girls were his thing, anyway; there was no way he would be able to live without them either.
The art of bullshitting his way out of everything; pretending to sweet talk to women just so he could get his way with them, that was Kyuhyun’s specialty. It was a natural talent he was born with, and while some people may refer to him as a playboy, he preferred to be known as someone who’s good with words. And honestly, the number of girls that kept pestering him after their one night in heaven was something he could handle. After all, hiding was his specialty too.
Kyuhyun, more than anything, believed himself to be a good guy. The kind that would give hope to innocent ladies, yes, but that later would do anything he could to lay them off without hurting them. He couldn’t live with himself, after all, thinking that he was the reason a heart was broken. That was his excuse for hiding from those girls who wouldn’t let go of him; the more he hid, the faster they would get the picture and walk away. It wasn’t nice, looking at it from different perspectives, but Kyuhyun was one to believe that it’s the thought that counts.
He had his heart broken once too, so he knows how it feels.
A buzzing sound from somewhere in his bedroom caught his attention. He had walked directly to the kitchen as soon as he got home, wanting to have a good breakfast and maybe sleep some more afterwards. Kyuhyun noted it was his phone that was ringing on the nightstand, he had forgotten to take it with him to Sungmin’s house the night before, and ran to see who was calling. Not many people had his cell phone number, mainly because it was just reserved for friends and people from work. He didn’t hesitate on answering the call without even looking at the screen, something he wished he hadn’t done right after.
“You are up this early?” a familiar voice questioned from the other side of the line. “I just wanted to try my luck, but now that you picked up, I think I need to go shopping for a survival kit.”
Kyuhyun narrowed his eyes, not surprised with his best friend’s antics and half expecting a lame joke to be thrown at him. It was the usual. “And why is that?” he asked just for the hell of it. His best friend had become the predictable type to him.
“The world is ending, man,” he laughed, making Kyuhyun raise an eyebrow for he didn’t see what was so funny. Changmin had a unique sense of humor; Kyuhyun liked to refer to it as nonexistent.
“What do you want?” Kyuhyun sighed, wishing his friend would stop his annoying laughter and go straight to the point of his call. The brunet wasn’t one to spend more than five minutes in a phone conversation; for some reason it ticked him, especially when the one at the other end was Changmin. The man could get on his nerves without even trying; it probably was the disadvantages of being the closest person to him.
“Good morning to you too,” Changmin answered in the same tone. Anyone who didn’t know him would have thought he had gotten angry; Kyuhyun knew this was just his usual sarcastic self coming to display.
“Really, what is it?” the brunet insisted, feeling his stomach growl impatiently with every second that passed.
“It’s almost the weekend!” Changmin cheered louder than necessary, once again making Kyuhyun frown at his words.
“Changmin,” the man started, sitting on the corner of his bed to continue in a more comfortable position. “It’s Monday.”
The line fell silent afterwards. It was as if the man was thinking about the information just told to him. Kyuhyun thought that, perhaps, Changmin was too fucked up from the night before to remember what day of the week it was. It’s not like the same hadn’t happened before, after all. Changmin was one pretty messed up dude; he knew it because Kyuhyun was like that too.
“What’s your point, dude?” Changmin asked after a minute of mere silence, something to which Kyuhyun had to shake his head in amazement. The brunet released a silent “wow” and kept quiet, letting the other finish what he had to say so they could get the conversation over with. The sooner it finished, the faster he could get to eat a proper meal.
“Let’s go out tonight,” Changmin suggested, chuckling when the other only cleared his throat in response. This was how things always started, and certainly, Kyuhyun would always find himself eagerly saying yes.

“You look awful,” the blond greeted mockingly. It had been a while since they had seen each other; Sunkyu could tell he hadn’t changed -or grown at all. Even when they were on the phone hours earlier, Heechul’s overly childish tone had been familiar to her.
“And you look way too girly to be called a man,” she retorted, approaching the much taller man with determined steps. Heechul had been waiting for her at the entrance of his favorite Starbucks, beginning to grow impatient after just a couple of minutes of standing there. Sunkyu had been five minutes earlier than expected for their date, yet she couldn’t help but feel guilty for making the man wait.
“I sure do look prettier than you,” he smiled, walking forward and opening his arms to receive the woman with a hug, fascinated with how small and fragile she felt in contrast with his body. He could no longer remember the last time he had held Sunkyu like this, but being able to see her again was enough to make him visibly happy.
“Always,” she sighed contentedly, hugging the man with equal, if not much more, force. “I almost didn’t recognize you with blond hair,” she commented pulling away from the embrace just enough to look up at him, her arms still holding the man’s waist tightly.
“What about you?” Heechul smirked, “I was expecting a brown haired midget and instead found this.”
Sunkyu gasped at the comment, untangling herself from the man to playfully smack him on the side. Heechul dodged and took a few steps back, sticking his tongue out in sheer mockery, and smiling at the woman’s reaction. The blonde didn’t care to fight back the smile that also took over her pretty features; her cheeks tinting a light shade of pink that made her look simply adorable. Heechul had also forgotten how flawless she always looked; Sunkyu is one of the most beautiful girls he’s ever known.
“Let’s go in,” the man suggested when things had calmed down, lips still curved upwards. “You must have cited me here for a reason,” he commented, noting how the woman eagerly nodded at his words.
Sunkyu had a sparkle in her eyes that he hadn’t failed to notice; she looked contagiously happier than ever before. Heechul guessed it wasn’t just because of their meeting. There had to be something she hadn’t told him on the phone, and he was desperate to find out what it was.
“I’m getting married,” the woman announced, putting an end to his wondering thoughts before the blond had time to make his own assumptions.
Heechul hadn’t expected this; Sunkyu hadn’t expected the ear-piercing scream that came next.
