Title: Skyscrapers
Pairing: Kyumin
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance, fluff
Summary: Sungmin only gave Kyuhyun reasons to keep trying.

The bright lights illuminating every building of the city outshined those of the stars adorning the night sky. Even from the highest floor of the skyscraper in which Kyuhyun’s office was located, enjoying of the perfect view of the scenery in front of him through the window, finding them had been a tedious job. Never in his life has he seen a sky so dark, and knowing it was probably one of the cons of living in such a big city like Seoul, he figured that imagining that the artificial lights of the buildings were stars would be his only choice.

It saddened him, more than those times when it was raining, because there weren’t clouds around to block his view, or drops of rain to roll down the glass of the window. Instead, all that was present was a gloomy sky that knew no life but the city that was under it, holding stars that were there but couldn’t be seen with the naked eye.

“Kyuhyun-ssi,” a faint gasp broke the silence inside the large room, taking said man away from his thoughts and back to reality.

Kyuhyun didn’t have to turn around to recognize the sound, mostly because that voice had been marked on his brain with permanent ink; nothing in the world could make him forget it. From the faint reflection of the glass he was facing, he could see a guy standing behind the wooden desk, panting for air as if he had climbed his way up to this floor with his own legs. The man’s black hair, which contrasted greatly with Kyuhyun’s light brown locks, covered his left eye and gave him a gloomy look, and the intense gaze coming from his uncovered eye was enough to send shivers down the other man’s spine.

“Sungmin,” the brunet acknowledged without even trying to hide his contentment, “how can I help you?” he asked, turning around to have a better look of his visitor.

“You know why I’m here,” said man answered quickly, his tone accusing as he lifted one of his hands that was holding a piece of paper.

Kyuhyun’s eyes followed the movement of the other, falling on what had been held for him to see. His smile grew impossibly wider as he recognized his handwriting, the sight clearly irritating the other man as he let out a strangled groan.

“Is this some kind of a joke?” Sungmin snarled through gritted teeth, “I can’t believe you would make fun of me like this.”

“Make fun of you? How am I making fun of you, Sungmin?” the brunet couldn’t help the playful tone for he found the current situation highly amusing. “Have I done something wrong?”

“Stop trying to play innocent, you jerk,” the man hissed, “and explain to me why you gave me a check for two thousand dollars?”

“Why? For your excellent work at the restaurant today, of course. Though personally, I thought of giving you an even larger tip, but my assistant didn’t think it was appropriate…” Kyuhyun trailed off, enjoying how the smaller man seemed to become angrier with every word.

“And this is appropriate?” he yelled, running his free hand through his hair and messing it up in exasperation. “Is this your way of trying to get me to go out with you?”

“I know you aren’t interested in my money,” the taller easily replied, giving light steps to close the distance between them. Sungmin stared at him, lowering the hand that had been holding the paper as the brunet stood in front of him. “But you see,” Kyuhyun continued, his smirk making him look even more handsome than he already was, “you chased after me, angry because you thought I was playing with you.”

The words were spoken as a whisper by now, the proximity making it unnecessary for their voices to be raised. Kyuhyun grew bold when Sungmin’s warm breath ghosted on his lips, and taking hold of said man’s waist to press him flush against his body, he spoke gentler words. “Now there’s this tension between us that not even you can deny, and something tells me you’ll reconsider all the times you’ve rejected me at the restaurant and grant me a date.”

“Whatever makes you think I will,” Sungmin tried to resist, not being able to tear his gaze away from the hypnotizing brown eyes of the taller man for even a second. His hands moved on their own all the way up Kyuhyun’s lean figure, coming to rest on his firm chest as the other tightened his hold around his waist.

“I’m the persistent type,” Kyuhyun smiled, “if you don’t say yes today, I’ll keep trying tomorrow,” and something about the way Sungmin’s eyes were glinting; the way his cheeks turned a bright shade of pink that made him look more beautiful, and the way he leaned up and captured the brunet’s lips with his own in a sweet first kiss just told Kyuhyun that his efforts had definitely been paid off.
