Well this week has been full of ups and downs...but a great partner in life really helps to put things in perspective. Laughing is a great stress reliever and focusing on the positive when everything seems to be dragging you down. That's been my reflection on the past week.
Friday: I let the dogs out and went to wash my face. Not five minutes later, Sugar (my new puppy) is laying in the road...I am beyond hysterical. I get to her and she seems OK, just dazed. My worst nightmare coming true. It was the worst five hours of my life. Apparently, Buddy had darted across the street to our neighbor and sugar followed him. Fortunately, she was just knocked around a bit under the car and didnt actually come into contact with the hundred things that would have surely brough serious injury. Nevertheless, I called Mark home from work and we rode up to the ER Vet. She was perking up by the time we got there, but I wanted to have some peace of mind. It was an awful day...but my little piece of sunshine is OK and back to her normal self.
My lesson: Dont take anything for granted and live each day as if its your last.
Sunday: Apparently death decided to hang around a little longer; my gramma passed away yesterday. I had prepared myself for this, she has been sick for a good month and half now...and I knew it was only a matter of time. I was planning to go see her today since they moved her back to the nursing home, but I think it was better that I didnt get to go. I just wish I could have actually talked to her the last time I went to see her. The first time, she was on pain meds and was sleeping most of the time or barely lucid. She was the same a week ago when I saw her...not really with it. I just hope she knew that I was there. I wish she would have been able to see me get married...but I know that she'll be there in spirit.
In other not so depressing news:
The downstairs room is FINALLY finished. We are going to pick out our paint today and start getting it ready for our furniture :) I am so excited! We bought a bedroom set and a new mattress...at the Roomstore. To have a REAL bed will be quite exciting. The futon is starting to make my back hurt. We spent way to much money at Target getting our bedsheets and comforter set and other assorted accessories...but we couldnt very well sleep on a new bed with no blankets or sheets! :) Now ya'll have to come visit me and see the the ONE finished room we have! :) Furniture comes on the 15th. We also ordered our living room set, but the living room isnt done ... so we'll have to find somewhere to store all that...probably the dinning room we dont use or the basement. Hopefully this will give mark the motivation he needs to finish up. :)
OK, well I gotta get moving so we can paint today.
Love you all...best of luck with summer jobs and such.
