Chapter Ten.
The Fight
"I don't care anymore! Alright?! I'm sick of this!" Jonghyun yelled with tears formed in his eyes as he slammed the front door of his house and ran down the steps through the pouring rain. "My luck..raining in the middle of winter." Jonghyun thought to himself as he quickly jolted through short paths with his arms wrapped around himself in attempt to keep warm. Small bits of blood stains washed over the corner of his lips from being struck by his father in the arguement, but even with the stinging feeling all Jonghyun was focused on was finding his way to Kibums apartment through memory.
Finally reaching his destination at nearly 1:00 AM , Kibum rolled out of his bed when he heard the loud thumps on the door and made his way slowly down the steps ; trying his hardest to keep quiet so his parents would stay asleep. Once he peeked through the peep hole in the door, he gasped and swung it open, quickly lunging out and grabbing a hold of Jonghyun's shoulders. "Hyung! What happened!? What are you doing here ?" He asked with a worried breath as Jong's soaked body fell against the younger male's chest, causing Kibum to fumble backwards slightly. "Hyung...what happened to you.."
"He knows....My father knows." Jonghyun exclaimed as his head slowly lifted to stare up at Kibum with fear written on his face. But before Kibum could reply, the older fell onto his knees and covered his face with both hands.
"About..us?" Kibum asked as he kneeled down as well and wrapped both of his arms around the slightly larger figure. He started to feel guilt, worry and fear all at once. The heavy stress piled up in chest as he held onto his hyung. He'd never seen him cry before. Not in front of him. Not once. This scared him more than anything. "Yes...." Jonghyun whimpered out as he slowly nodded and pressed his face closer into Kibums chest, causing the blood to stain into his t-shirt.
"You're bleeding. You're frozen...come on, I'll help you.." The younger said before helping his hyung up from the floor and closing the apartment door. He brought Jonghyun over to the couch and grabbed a small cloth so he could start dabbing at the cut on the corner of his lips. "He's really violent towards you...Isn't he." Kibum asked as he pulled out some anti-bactorial cream from the end table and very lightly rubbed some over the red slit in his skin. "Look at you....I'm scared." He admitted quietly. Kibum had this strong feeling of guilt permanently glued to his chest, as if this entire situation was his fault. As if, he needed to end this so Jonghyun didn't get even more hurt because of him. "You..You can't even stand properly, can you.." Kibum sighed heavily and stood up from the floor, just narrowing his eyes before mumbling out words he knew he'd later regret. "Maybe...we shouldn't be toget---"
"NO!" Jonghyun cut him off before he could even think to finish his sentence. "I can stand! See!" Suddenly, Jonghyun started to shake in fear. Scared to lose the only thing in his life that has given him a reason to stand up for himself to his father. Kibum made him stronger, without even realizing until now.
"See , Kibum!" He said loudly without a care in the world of who else was trying to sleep, as his body pushed up from the couch. With trembling knees, the older male started to fall forwards and both arms reached out immediatly to grip onto the wall so he didn't fall. The sudden movement caused Kibum to jolt forward and grip onto Jonghyun's chest; holding him up. "Please hyung...listen to me. Look at you! This is because of me...It's because of me that you're this hurt."
"I don't want this to end!" Jong said loudly as he gripped onto Kibum's chest. "Please..No!"
For once, Kibum was the one to give a cold stare. Not out of being mean, but he wanted to do this to keep Jonghyun safe. With no reply to the previous conversation, Kibum just helped his hyung back over to the couch and turned around quietly. "...You can sleep here tonight.."
Jonghyun just stared up at the boy weakly, with his teeth pressed together and his jaw clenching. "N-No...please...I'm not scared of him...I'm fine!" He continued to try convincing his dongsaeng to the best of his ability.
"I don't care. I don't care of you're not scared." The younger repeated, still staring at the floor with his back facing Jong. "It kills me seeing you like this. If we stay together, I will have to continue seeing your face cut up like this, and I can't do it. I was bad news for you from day one. I feel like I have been a burden in your life. I..wasn't meant to be in it from the very beginning --- me coming here, me meeting you. It was all really unfortunate. I shouldn't have pushed it further and asked to help you in english."
"Kibum..." Jonghyun muttered out quietly as he felt painful, stinging tears building up in the corner of his eyes once again.
"I shouldn't have fallen for those stupid puppy dog eyes, and that stupid sharp nose, and that perfect jawline of yours." He felt pathetic for the way he was just describing him, tears forming in his own eyes as well. "I'll get you dry clothes for you to wear." He said as he ran up the stairs without giving Jonghyun a chance to reply. Instead, the older male just sat there. Weak. Afraid. Sad. Alone. He wasn't able to even collect his breaths, or put together the thoughts screaming and running around in his head.
After a few moments, Kibum returned with a pair of sweat pants and a sweater, as well as a small blanket then placed it next to him. Without any eye contact or words, he just flicked off the hall light and went back up to his bedroom; closing the door quietly so he could crawl back into bed and curl up in fetal position. Tears falling into the clear sheets.
