In all honesty, I didn't do much work graphics-wise because I'm not that great at doing stuff like that without actual photographs, so I'm sorry for the crapiness of the picspam, but I really love all of these authors. I've been reading since I can't even remember. And I absolutely love it. I must warn you, I really don't like the kind of books they make you read in school. I do enjoy a bit of Jane Austen and some Charles Dickens, but I'm not really into the classics. I think I'm going to do a longer authors post soon and include some of my guilty pleasure authors, but for now, here's my top 5:
To be quite honest, he's only on here because I couldn't think of anyone else and I really love my top 4 and just wanted to post them. I do enjoy his books though. Helter Skelter was the first true crime novel and read and it showed all the parts of a murder investigation, instead of just what writers think are interesting. And I learned a lot about what actually happens. It made me think about things differently.
At this point, the order no longer mattes, because I hold all four of these others to the same level of awesomeness. I absolutely love Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling. These books are just so amazing and probably my first fandom ever. I was quite obsessed with them when I was younger. I even had a crush on a guy in third grade just because he had black hair and round glasses like Harry. My favorite book is probably the Chamber of Secrets. Oh, and I literally wanted to be Hermione Granger. They also led to a bit of fascination in British culture for me and subsequently led to me coming to love Doctor Who and so many other fantastic British shows/movies/books, which I am so grateful for. In all honesty, I think British literature is more interesting, especially the older books. American classics are just terribly dull to me. Now I feel a bit unpatriotic though...
I'm not really a fan of all of his books, but he makes this list purely for the Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow books. Those books are absolutely fantastic. I love them. Ender's Game is the only book I can read over and over and never get bored of. I always find something different everytime I read it. I'm normally not a huge fan of science fiction when it comes to books, but these are really original and entertaining. I haven't ever decided if I like Bean or Ender better.
I started out reading Mary Higgins Clark, but I have to say Agatha Christie is definitely my favorite mystery writer. Every single one of her books is spectacular. And I've noticed that the majority of current ideas for murder mysteries are basically all in her books. My favorite is probably And Then There Were None. It was just an amazing mix of horror/mystery. I actually listened to it on tape first, and I had to turn all the lights on in the house. I think my favorite detective of hers is Hercule Poirot.
I don't think I could even pick a favorite book by him. They may be children's books, but I still love reading them. Even his autobiographies are interesting. He is quite funny, while actually writing an interesting story. I really do not even know how to describe how I feel about these books. They always make me smile, no matter what. Well, except for that freaky Skin one.
I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment with you favorite authors, because I always love trying new books:)
