So, for the sake of updating (Note: for the uninterested few, I've bolded the highlights):
1. Had an awesomeamazingsuperfantastico spring break with lots of friends and baking and heart.
2. I had a rock-awesome bicycle accident a couple Fridays ago landing me in the ER 5 hours with fear of a broken jaw. Thankfully it was just jammed and loosened enough to touch me teeth again within a few days. I had 7 stitches in my chin, two broken teeth, an amazing handle-bar-shaped bruise on my thigh (it turned fantastic colors), and pretty knarly knuckles and road burn on my shoulder. Most of this has healed up now too pretty pink scares (except the shoulder which is still in the scabbing stage) and I have pretty new teeth too : D.
3. I have decided to attend the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University (!). I still can't quite believe I've made this decision so it is settling in slowly (aka. I'm ignoring it but every so often I get flashes of butterflies shooting through my veins (whoa, am I on drugs?)). They gave me a pretty hefty scholarship which made it possible to attend and accepted me into a cool international program (The Scholars Program) that incorporates community service in New York with the classes, has domestic traveling one year, and international traveling junior year (last years group went to Mexico, Peru, and Ireland). Cool, huh?
4. I arrived here in Chicago yesterday (well, I'm actually in Wilmette now where the Baha'i House of Worship is because my dad's our Cluster’s delegate for the National Convention this year where the National Spiritual Assembly is elected) and received more exciting news. After having nearly given up on working out going to Africa this coming year, I received the "go ahead"! Mr. Bujold who has been my contact arranged everything with the new principle of the primary school (long story short, I'd originally been working with him to serve at the secondary school, but, after months of correspondence, he passed me off to the primary school and I couldn't get a hold of the woman there). So, they want me to come and volunteer at Setsembiso Sebunye Primary School in Swaziland, Africa from Sept. 2007- June 2008!!! How exciting is that!!
So now, I'm contacting my scholarship people and the NYU aid office to work out deferring my funds for a year, and then the admissions office to defer housing and enrollment. (I'll also try to work in the service as a school oriented thing).
Woot woot!
