Not really... I don't remember having that feeling anyway. With SLD, it's so hard sometimes to know whether it's truly a disability, or if it's environmental. BUT I usually look at it as, if they do show a discrepancy, it's giving them access to services that they truly need. That should change soon since we're transitioning to RTI (and hopefully the SLD rules will change soon!). I just tested a girl who by the numbers would qualify for SLD, but she's been absent 25% of the time for the past 3 years. So obviously, we can't rule out that it's not due to lack of instruction... so she won't be placed SLD. I'm getting a LOT of argument about that from the school, but that's how it goes!!!

Nope. Her mom doesn't have a car so she just lets her stay home if she misses the bus. And she has to stay home cos of lice a lot too. They've done so much to try and get her to school... it's pretty sad.

obviously that's not your fault.... but that's extremely disturbing

does her mom not have a car because of money? Can the school make accommodations for that?
