"I can't believe you read those things," Kara muttered as she unloaded her cart onto the conveyer belt. Sunshine Market might not have the best selection around, but it did have the cheapest, and Kara wasn't getting paid until next Friday.

"Just in grocery lines and waiting rooms," Helo replied evenly as he flipped through Colonist magazine. "They're fun."

"They're ridiculous," Kara said, rolling her eyes. "Who cares what a bunch of celebrities do?"

Helo shrugged. "People do, obviously. Look, Starbuck, even you'll like this one: Pyramid stars dress up for charity."

"Dress up like what?"

"Like for Souls' Day. It was for some benefit last week."

Despite herself, Kara's interest was piqued. "Who participated?"

"Myka Seren from the Bulls, Erid Jace of the Twins, Jeff Agnelli from the All Reds, Isla Harrens from the Hydras, Ash Yunkai from the Panthers, Sam Anders from the C-Bucs, Cyn Sagit from the Archers--"

Kara took the magazine to look at the pictures and snorted. "They look like tools."

"Aw, come on, Starbuck, it's nice."

"Some dumbasses paid money so that ball players would wear some lame costume? Why would you want to see Cyn Sagit dressed up like a forest sprite?"

Helo raised his eyebrows at her, and glanced back at the picture featuring Cyn Sagit in a green gauzy strips of fabric that barely kept her decent, along with a wand.

"Forest sprites don't even have wands." Kara said as the cashier started scanning her items. "And Anders dressed up as a pirate- is that supposed to be clever?"

"Seren seems to think it is," Helo replied, closing the magazine and putting it back on the rack. "It was raising money for a food bank in C-City. It's a good thing, Kara, even if it is lame."

"It is lame. And you just wish Myka Seren would find you clever."

"Myka Seren, Cyn Sagit, Isla Harrens... not picky."

"Oh, I know you're not," Kara retorted, "Been to enough bars with you to know that."

"Ohhhh she's funny," Helo said as he bagged up a roll of salami, a packet of cheese, a bag of chips and two candy bars. "Keep it up and I won't have you over for dinner in the next week."

"And save me from having to choke down Pasta Agathon? I knew you had my back." She had enough cubits to go shopping maybe once more, and definitely to buy a couple of beers over the weekend. She'd done this before.

"You'll be aching for my pasta," Helo said, and he held the door open for her because that was just how he was. "You always come back for more."

"It's pity."

"Uh huh. Maybe we can get some pyramid stars to hold a fundraiser."

"Just shut up and get in the car."

This is DELIGHTFUL. Look at Kara and Helo and their glorious BFFness! And Sam as a pirate (not gonna lie, I'd go to that party with rum in tow)! And "They look like tools!" Oh, Kara, never change.

Don't think I didn't notice your Myka namedrop! You're adorable! You will get me to check out W13 yet.

I had SUCH FUN writing it, I can't even tell you! And honestly, who wouldn't show up with rum for Sam the pirate?

LOL I had no idea if anyone would notice but I was like *shifty eyes* and totally added it for my own amusement! W13 is charming and adorable and highly recommended!
