First things first: PRAYER CIRCLE FOR 17TH PRECINCT. nicole_anell and I created an awesome silly sacrilegious possibly necessary prayer:
HAIL SIX, FULL OF BEAUTY, THE LORD IS WITH THEE.
BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG ROBOTS,
AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF YOUR SHAPE-OF-THINGS-ETC.
HOLY SIX, MOTHER OF DESTINY,

Secondly, I have recently noticed a crazy thing I do lately. Mind you, I am full of all kinds of crazy idiosyncracies and other oddities, but this is particularly interesting.
Let's say I have to be at work at 7:45 am. I literally live three minutes away, but I am hella paranoid, so I'm like, okay, I need to leave at 7:35 so I have enough time. That means I have to be ready by 7:30 so I don't freak out.
But once I have that time in my mind- in this example, 7:30- I forget that I arrived at that number for a reason and start subtracting time from that. Well, if I want to leave at 7:30, then I should be ready to leave at 7:25. 7:20. 7:15.
Even if I'm, say, substituting, and I'm covering for a music teacher who goes from class to class and doesn't have a class until 9 am because her 8 am class was canceled due to testing, and I'm sitting in the teacher's lounge reading a book and checking my watch every five minutes, I wind up figuring a time to leave that's about TWENTY MINUTES EARLIER THAN NECESSARY. The school is good-sized, but seriously, that is longer than it took me to walk from one side of campus to the other at UF. But there I am like, I need to leave at 8:55! 8:50! 8:45! and eventually I wind up taking out my time table to reassure myself that, no, really, I don't have to leave five hundred years before I need to get somewhere to get there on time, self, you just need to chillax.
And also the new bar at the top of livejournal is weird but not entirely unpleasant.
ETA: Looks like 17th Precinct isn't getting picked up. I guess my disdain for NBC, excluding 30 Rock and Community, can continue unabated.
