I was going to do this entry about my day, cause I actually did all sorts of things, but on a whim, I went to see if my scores were up. Because of the whole confusion about the time and date thing.

So I went.

And I passed.

I got my diploma.

AIEEEE!

Anyway, because of the confusion, my mom woke me up early (which was around eleven, but, you know. less than ten hours of sleep is... not so good for summer) to check the scores, and I said no, but my sister had this thing about trying the funnel cakes at IHOP (...?) so they were going, and I went along.

So we had pancakes and funnel cakes at IHOP, and then we tried out couches at Ethan Allen, and then some other store, and then we went to Sunset Place to see The Devil Wears Prada, and while we were waiting for the showing, we tried out couches at Pottery Barn and Z Gallery, and had shakes at Johnny Rockets.

The movie was good.

I liked the book. I did. It was trashy, but in a good way. And to me, good trash is separated from bad trash by the descriptions of fabulous clothes and designer things because I am a vain, shallow, vapid person.

The thing that ruined it for me, of course, was the ending. I also have no soul, in addition to being all of the above, and when Andy blew it all- ALL- because her best friend- who, in my eyes, and in light of ALL THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THUS FAR, was not even that good of a friend, or whatever (which is the writer's fault, whatever)- was in an accident, or something, so Andy had to fly home, and it pissed me off. It's not because I'm soulless (I don't think, but I'm sure some would) but because Andrea had like, hardly any relationship to that person to start with, let alone nine months later, but off Andy flew, three months before she could've had any job she wanted.

I am aware that I can be at times an overly, and occasionally frighteningly, pragmatic person. And I'm not saying that I wouldn't fly home if Talisa or Becca or Nica or someone was in a horrible, life-threatening car accident. But a friend that was barely a friend anymore- this is not coming out like I want it to. Anyway, I hated that Andrea threw away the opportunity of a life time for a stupid reason.

But the movie made it even more unbelievably stupid. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the movie. Mostly because of the clothes and bags and shoes. (ohhhhh.) The movie almost completely obliterated her best friend's role, so much so that when it dawned on me that Lily the alcoholic, russian speaking, "you look how I always pictured Lolita" Lily from the book was the same as Lily, the girl who was played by Joanne from Rent who opened an art gallery was the same person, my jaw dropped. Instead, Andy decided she didn't want to be a successful, amazing career woman because she saw that Miranda was unhappy, and when Miranda said "I see a bit of myself in you," Andy FLIPPED OUT and WALKED OFF. Which is not only amazingly unprofessional and selfish, but is also STUPID. I mean, is it so bad to be compared to someone that successful? Sure, she's bitchy and scary, but that's not all she is. She got that way by being that talented at her job, and her success may have exacerbated what was already there, but dude. When you are the reigning queen of fashion, you deserve to be a little bitchy. Not as much as Miranda, but a little. And just because she's had failed marriages and frightens people doesn't mean that just because Andy was nine months into a job with her, and three months away from any. job. she. could. possibly. desire. in. journalism. that she would automatically end up a Dragon Lady just like Miranda. Honestly. It's not a communicable disease.

Arg. Anyway. It was made up for by the fact that clothes and the fashion and the necklaces and the shoes and sunglasses were intact.
